that was fast!
Here is another part of my equation. I am 32 with no kids. Ideally I want to have kids in my mid 30s (with my wife) because after about 36 it is getting kind of late. If you are 40 when you have a kid it means that you are 58 when they go to college and 62 when they are finally on their own. That is late in life for me since I can and plan to retire at 50.
I plan to retire from LE at 50 because at that point in time I will have 28 years of service (which means 28 years of shift work, working holidays, and missing family stuff because of the job). I can always find another job and I am gaining experience to apply to another career when I finish.
Then again, when I retire I would love to take a 8 month stretch off and sail south for the winter. LOL. The future is open and who knows what will happen.
