Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Then, yes I have attended Divorce Care meetings, they were helpful in many ways. Just to have people around that are going through the same thing at many different levels. It's more of an interpersonal connection than here, plus it put something on the calendar for 2 hours a week.
I tried counselling, but only a couple of times.
Everything else was just casual, like DS , talking to family and coworkers, etc.
DivorceCare was a very good support group. There is a more personal touch. You also make bonds that are close. These new friends will also help you out in other activities.
I feel that I received a lot more from DivorceCare than an online place.
My area is a bit spread out and I didn't meet anyone that I connected with for long. But it was a great experience that got me through the first couple months of the process.
Yes, I found that out the hard way.
RMAN, you will go to the dagobah, I mean support group, and try it at least once.
What I found beneficial:
1. It gets me out of the house
2. Groups often have a trained facilitator to keep things on topic
3. I have made connections with group members outside of the group.
4. Physical hugs have a healing affect.
I say try it, but more than once
No one has ever asked me if I am a Christian or if I belong to a church. The material is Christian but my experience is that there is no discrimination against non-believers.
I find the video material is a good outline of everything to think about wrt what we are going through. It is kind of a course on separation and divorce.
The material provides a theme for the week and some things to think about and talk about with others.
F2F is outstanding way for me to begin to get more comfortable discussing my divorce.
It took me several meetings to get comfortable.
