I have been talking to a girl for a few weeks. We email a each other a few times a day. She is really nice and the more we email and talk by the phone the more we find in common (We both like to cook and we both hate onions and that is just one of the little odd things that we share).
There are a lot of things about her that I like. She has great morals, a good Christian, and she is very smart.
We were talking the other night and I asked her what she was doing on Thursday and she said nothing. I am off so I offered to go up there (Northern VA and I am only 1.5 hours from there). She said 'Yes!"
I am excited about meeting her, I just don't want to get my hopes up. She seems really great and I am sure that we will at least be good friends. I am nervous because I don't want to screw this up. I know to just be myself and let things go the way that they were meant to go, but it still makes me nervous.
Does anyone else get nervous like that? Any suggestions?

Of course, in the end, I may as well taken the freakin pepper spray, condoms, and handcuffs that the others are talking about cuz I got stood up and gave the flower to the hostess on my way out.
And to answer your question, yes, its nerve racking, but in a good way.
A woman's perspective/experience... they are right. She is more nervous than you.
And the rose... if that is what you really want to do, it is that feeling that will shine thru to her. It could be a rose, daisy, whatever. You're being yourself. I think she's going to be pleasantly surprised.
In all seriousness, she asked me to call her last night. She tends to be a homebody like me. She is a planner like I am. I once slipped up and told her about some of my future plans (retiring and sailing to the Carribean) and she said that that was a neat plan she liked the fact that I had plans like that.
When I am nervous I can be very talkative. I really have to watch myself because I can be very, very, very honest and say exactly what is on my mind before I think about it. I have to watch that I don't babble too.
Maybe I said the thing about the sailing just to test her a little too. Seriously, if she had run off kicking and screaming then I would have been better off at that point because she wouldn't fit me. Her responce was pretty encouraging to me.
WHo knows...I am babbling now. Thanks for the advice and I will keep you posted.
Oh...FYI...I promise that there won't be any pirate talk ;) That is just a joking thing anyways and I don't do that in person unless I really know someone.

We both love to cook and we both are they type of people who would prefer to watch a dvd unstead of going to a movie.
I am trying to leave those options up to her because I am going to be on her turf and I am not familiar with her area.
Our meeting went well and I am still talking to him... He was just what I expected and more. We spoke about everything from the smallest things to the largest ones. We talked about what annoyed us... to what we loved to do. I am sure if you feel it and its a real connection that you will be just fine.. just be yourself and enjoy it. Make sure you come back to tell us all how it went!
