i have been married for almost 3 years with my girlfriend from back in highschool. We broke up when I was 17 and we found each other many years later and kinda picked up where we left off. Only now she had 3 kids and a loser ex husband. Almost from day one the arguments and fights were really intense! But so was the love. It’s been almost 3 years now and all the fights, drama, and nastyness has really worn down my heart. I feel like I let her change me as a person with all of the horrible things she spews when she’s angry. A lot has occurred during these 3 years. Lots of mental, verbal, financial, and just plain abuse of me as a person. Something happened to me during our last fight. It’s like something snapped and I remembered who I was and have become emotionally numb. This behavior has apparently really freaked her out to the point of almost madness. She keeps asking me if I love her, and I can’t give her the answer she wants right now. I think she killed my love. She is suffering terribly now, she has done lots of changes in the past few weeks to make up for all the damage she did. But I think it might be to late. I don’t want her to suffer and I don’t want to feel trapped in a relationship I’m not connected to right now. Any advice would be awesome.

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
In my opinion, the best thing you can do is be honest with first yourself and then her. You are not doing anyone in the household any favors by staying in a relationship that is not healthy and that you are unsure about. My first action to anything is praying an after that take time alone in a peaceful environment to really be alone with your thoughts with no interruptions and weigh your options. From experience I know if you aren't happy its best to either get some form of therapy to mend your marriage or part ways. I have been where you are, but on the end where my significant other of 5 years was over us and did not tell me until a full year later after he fell out of love with me. He fooled me into believing that we were all good and one day after a deep discussion he admitted it to me that he was never all in and that he was leaving me and the kids. So, of course, that was life-shattering and altering. So be honest with yourself and I hope this advice was helpful and I will keep you in my prayers!

Seems like this is not a relationship you want to invest any more of your time or energy into....which would be the wise thing. You can't force someone to respect you or treat you well...changes happen when panic of loss comes, but inevitably people go back to their selves and real personality traits when the threat dissolves... And this woman is teaching 3 children its okay to treat your partner like crap and how to disrespect people....do you want to deal with them as they grow?
3 years is awhile, but you can clearly see this isn't going anywhere positive, and I don't usually say this, but in your case I would recommend divorce.
