I work my ass off and put long weeks in with countless hours. I work weekends and holidays and never complain. I am at work 30 minutes early and leave late every day. I go out there and I make cases that have my name attached to them and they are solid cases (I hate it when superiors force you to make charges on weak cases just to get clearance on something). I do all of this and all I have to look forward to is someone giving me a hard time on the road, getting hurt in a fight, high stress levels, superiors questioning every decision that I make and going behind me to try to find things, and having to deal with other peronalities that would make a sane person cringe.
The job has jaded me, devistated my health, and just not treated me as well as it should have. I have always been one to go out onto the street and try to do the right thing and treat everyone, even the criminals, right. That has resulted in me building an excellent reputations. There are people that I can arrest without incident that will fight anyone else because they know that I won't lie to them or bullshit them. I work all these forced overtime assignments and special events (I have worked every single fourth of july for the last 9 years and almost every Christmas). There is no end in site to all of this. I have 19 years to finish up and retire.
I am vested in my retirement system so even if I leave it where it is at at the age of 50 I will be able to draw a small overtime no matter what. It will never loose value and it can only gain in value.
Who knows. I just want to change my life around. For once I want weekends off and holidays off. I want to go out on the Fourth of July and watch the fireworks instead of working special events with crowds of over 30,000 people.
This past six months my life has become total shit. I feel that I deserve a nice new start and I deserve a chance to be able to forget about all the hard times I had to go through.
I feel like a tired old gunfighter who has fought his last gun fight and was wounded in the process. I feel old, weary, and wounded. It is time to hang up the guns.
Take it from me... serial employee... If you don't hear from them tomorrow... CALL THEM yourself just to check up.
My girlfriend got a job a few months ago and it took them 2 months to call her!!!! 2 MONTHS! But she stuck to it cause she really wanted to get into this company. She was paid off... she got the job. but man what patience!! lol
I've got my fingers crossed for you though... you will get it though... just make sure you call them. Employers are busy people so this might be a good thing... in fact call them now! :D
