Long story short, we dated for three years then it came to an abrupt halt. (On his terms). I never saw it coming. I thought we were happy. Just that weekend we had talked about wedding plans. Then later that week he was breaking up with me, and nothing I said or did could change it. A week or two goes by, he contacts me and wants to talk. Not to get back together, but to talk about the breakup and why it happened. Basically, he's young and so am I. He felt like I was more mature than him, and he mentally and emotionally could not give me what I wanted, but had full intentions of still marrying me. He wanted to focus on himself, school, and becoming financially stable. That was more than understandable so we remained friends. I will admit, we did continue to have sex while we had just broken up, which he then said he wanted to date me after the first semester was over this August-December. So that was the plan. Then a week or two into the summer, he contacted me late at night, saying that he didn't want to wait. Being single and partying and. Wing carefree was fun and all, but that I was better. Elated, I had agreed to meet him like he wanted and to discuss getting back together. Well after talking some stuff through over the phone, he decided that he didn't want a girlfriend at all anymore. (I think he realized that I was still hurting and wouldn't just jump right back into things, and he gave up?) very hurt, we gave each other space, and then later on (month or so)rebuilt our friendship. He asked to meet up a few times over the summer just to see me, each time ended with him kissing me,but then saying we're just friends:/ so we start school, and he's being sweet. Hangs out with me on my bday. Even buys me a cake. We have sex. He tells me he loves me and all of that good stuff, but he knows that he mentally and emotionally won't be ready to have a girlfriend at all until next year (which will be his senior yr or college) I understand and we remain friends. Well, we have sex a few more times and then I tell him I can no longer do that, and still just be his friend. He understands, and we countinue to talk on the phone and hang out in public places where we won't be tempted to have sex. Well, around early October he confesses to me, that he drunk kissed some girl at a party, but only as a dare. Idk why it upsets me so much bc we are single and he says that he doesn't even know her and it was a dare. But we don't speak for awhile. He checks up on me after not speaking saying that he was thinking about me and hopes that I'm okay. I tell him I'm doing fine, and we talk a little more here and there. But haven't seen each other in about a month. Fast forward to now, I find out through text he has met this girl that he really likes, and he plans on dating her. Completely shocked I ask if it's serious and if we still have a future? He refuses to talk about that with me, and then says "why the hell would I tell you to wait for me when I'm trying to date someone else." I ask if we'll still be friends and he says that we can and he wants to talk about her to me and about us when he's ready, even though I've just been hit by this bombshell. Next day, I send him a long message how that won't be nessecsry.and that out of respect for her and their future relationship (if they end up dating) I won't be contacting him anymore bc that won't be fair to her. I wish him my best, let him know that I still care and hope that she makes him happier than I did, and say goodbye. All I get is a "later *my name*" I've had him blocked on everything since he told me about the kiss and so I didn't have to do that. Two days later, he texts me two really funny videos, that he knows I would find funny (we used to do this while we dated) and I don't reply. He then says that he's sorry he just couldn't think of anyone else to send these too and that if I didn't want him to do that anymore or text me at all, to just say the word stop. So I did. He "liked" that message, and I haven't heard from him since. It's been a week. I'm heartbroken. Before our breakup he had been saving up for an engagement ring for me. We talked about when we would get married, wedding colors, what we would name our kids, where we would live, and he showed so much excitement. He was also my best friend we did everything together. We went on so many adventures, had a YouTube channel, movie marathons, cooked together, I mean everything you name it. For three years he was my best friend. We knew everything about each other and now we don't talk and he has found someone new. Everything reminds me of him, and I find it difficult to get out of bed most days and take care of my physical needs. I'm hurting and I miss him. My grades are slipping and I'm just not doing well. All because of a boy I thought I would marry, and who I thought wanted to marry me. I'm hurting and I just don't know what to do.
The one thing you want to make sure is that it doesn't affect other aspects of your life, like your grades. Trust me, as someone who some days just goes through the motions at work because of what I am dealing with, that you'll wind up making things much worse for yourself. Concentrate on school and make sure you don't let someone else dictate your happiness, health and success. You deserve better than that. Just know that.
