Looking back now the last two years have been extremely difficult. Have been told that he was emotionally and verbally abusing me a little bit at a time without me realizing it. I kept thinking I must not be doing things right. "
Cricket51, since my break-up, my friends have been telling me the same thing! And it it true, I felt beat down without being beat physically at all. It was just as you describe above. The Lord saved us on this deal Cricket. He has pulled us out and saved us. Unbelievable. You really got my attention today! Thank you.

I had never been to this site until last night. A friend of mine recommended it to me. When I read your story,it just hit me so hard. I am so sorry you too are going through all this.
It's been the last two years that my soon-to-be ex-husband has started with the verbal and emotional abuse. I couldn't even put a word to it until more than one of my friends said that's exactly what he has been doing and this was also verified through a counselor I've been seeing. I didn't even realize how slowly, but surely he was starting to isolate me from my friends. It was the last couple of months where the real cruelty came out -- not physical though -- maybe that's why I didn't see it for what it was. It was like living with a totally different person.
I was an extremely independent woman, had my own career and owned my own home. After being married for a few years I sold my home and quit my job to be home and hope to be a stay-at-home mom. The mom part didn't work out, but now I am so thankful I didn't bring an innocent child into this mess. Now I have little to no confidence when it comes to just about anything -- expecially going out to get a job. I will be okay financially for a while and I hope with counseling I'll get back to being my old self. During the time I wasn't working I would volunteer whenever I was needed and I think I'll start doing that again to ease myself back into the real world.
I find it so difficult to understand how some people are capable of doing such cruel and hateful things to someone they supposedly "love" and then just walk away like they never shared their life with someone or were ever married -- as if the last ten years didn't exist.
I know this is the best thing that could have happened to us in the long run and some days we may not see it that way, but I do believe that in time we're both going to come out of this much wiser and happier -- I keep telling myself I need to get "my groove back"!
Hope today is a good one for you.....

As I said earlier I never knew about this site until a friend recommended it to me yesterday. It's so helpful to know there are people out there who truly understand.
I have something that will fit and makes you feel good.
