I went through a rough divorce 4 years ago, darkest time of my life. After 19 years my wife left; turned out she had been cheating. We had a then-8-year-old daughter caught in the middle. This site helped me a lot.
I ended up in a new relationship that lasted 3 years with a lot of good times, a lot of healing. Unfortunately that relationship ended early this year. So I was down again (not as severely this time!), but not out. A few more rough months. Now I'm dating again and things are looking up.
Life is a rollercoaster. The only constant is change. If you're like me, you don't handle change very well! But I can honestly say now that the divorce was a net positive for my life. My ex and I were really not the best overall fit and I have since seen things about her that I really dislike. I suspect you will get to the same place. It may take 3 months or 3 years, but you'll get there.
You are at the very beginning right now. You have some rough months ahead of you, but things will gradually improve (you won't even realize it sometimes) and suddenly you will look back and notice real progress. Just push through. The only way out is to go through it. You will end up changed, but quite possibly for the better. Be well.
I've been down this road several times but it's never easy. You get so used to someone being there a d when they're gone it's like a piece of you went with them.
I don't really like big changes especially if it causes pain but I think most people are like that.
