Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
Two things you need to tell yourself:
Never make someone a priority when they consider you an option.
And
There are things that we don't want to happen but have to accept, things we don't want to know but have to learn, and people we can't live without but have to let go.
We know that drill all too well and it is so sad to see someone going through this hurt. Here are the links that a fellow DS member, PGamble, put together. We all care. It's time roll up your sleeves and start taking those necessary steps before we MARCH MARCH MARCH. Do your part and we will walk beside you and you should seek counseling in addition to your daily strength. Godspeed.

Oestonee, I like all the links you posted. I've seen a lot of your posts and you are very helpful in everything I've seen. I've been going through and copying the good stuff to my phone's Notepad so I can break them out and read them anytime I feel down. And I have been going to counseling and it has been a big help.
KMPC, I'm starting to realize that checking on her is not good for me. So I will definitely work on that. I am also going to draw up some kind of plan to cut contact with her. I told her I wanted to be kept in the loop of our "house" stuff (selling it) but she tells me things about her day or her family, but I think I need to tell her to keep it business-like. I can't be her friend, which is what I know she wants. She wants to have that part of me, and while doing that would be nice, I want all of her, not just the friend part. Thank you for your thoughts. I will take them and learn from them.
Give yourself break. No contact works--gives you breather to begin to see with clarity.
Be easy on yourself. There are many stumbles along the way but you grow from them and learn to pick up the pieces.
You're right though, it isn't fair. breaking a vow isn't right and you are getting the raw end. Best reason not to check up on her or try to figure out what she is thinking that i've figured out is that you will just drive yourself nuts. Maybe she does feel ok right now, maybe she is struggling, maybe she will have her own struggles down the road, but trying to figure out if it's fair will only re-enforce that it isn't.
If your job sucks (like mine) look for a new one. If she is going somewhere, who cares, let her, go out somewhere for you. The other week, an old high school friend and i drove to NYC (hour and a half) on a whim to catch a concert.
I'm thinking there is a balance to "wanting her back" and living without her...I'm working on finding it.
You have my thoughts and prayers. Lord knows we need em.
My ex is having a great time out partying and buying himself a ton of new things and hanging out with all new people...meanwhile I'm stuck sleeping on my mom's couch and trying desperately to find a job (I was a stay at home mom for the last few years.) He stayed in the house - kept the car - won't even give me my make up and hair dryer!
But....with all that being said, I'm trying to keep in mind that just because it looks, from the outside at least, that his life has gotten so much better...it doesn't mean it has, and it doesn't mean it will stay that way. While he is out having a great time, I'm taking my time to grieve, reaching out for support and working on figuring out what it is about me that makes me miss someone that could care less. I'm trying to remedy things about me...something he is running from. In the long run (however loooong it may be) I'll be ready to take my life back and live it the best way for me.
For all the things he claimed to know about me, he didn't know one of the most important. I AM A PHOENIX - AND FROM THE ASHES I WILL RISE!!.....and after the firestorm of emotion and pain....so will you.
I wish you all the very best and please know that there are others out there in the dark of the morning holding on with you.
One thing to remember is in the cases in which you may have mutual friends, from my experience they always side with the women. In my experience at least 3 girlfriends that I have had in the past would actually be invited to parties and other social gatherings when I was notg. The worst part is that I introduced these women to my group of friends.
Im also stuck in the same place that we lived together, which is real hard, when she left i took everything out of the house tht she cooked and I stopped eating the foods that we regularly would eat.
Your job, not to come off as mocking you but at least you have one. I was told to change my name because nobody want to hire a person with that name.
as far as thoughts and prayers, you have mine.
As far as im conserned you shouldnt be looking back trying to fix the immendable, look forward and hope that one day your going to find that one person that reads your mind, finishes your thoughts, and makes you happy. Believe me im hanging on by a thread but those hopes are the only ones keeping me going.
