I think i did try match.com but nothing came of it. it was just a 3 month trial and I got tired of always having to come up with something to say especially to introduce myself to someone who I never met. That is the frustrating part: how do you say something to attract someone you never met? I've never been through that before as my ex and I met at the job we both worked at and were friends before we dated.
on this site at least I met some cool people who I can hang with. MsBlank1 is cool but I'm kinda scared the next time we meet she might smack me with a rubber cooking utensil.... we'll see, but just to be sure I"ll wear my extra strength jock strap that day. just kidding Msblank1, you know I think you're special.... like biscuits and gravy special ya know.
What sucks is a lot of these POF girls seem so picky. one gal had a long list of "must haves" which is important, I suppose, but any gal who introduces herself like that I think is way toooo picky to ever want me. I am friends with a gal, very good looking but way tooo picky (not anyone on here) and she will be forever single because no guy will ever be good enough for her. I saw one white gal who even said "no white guys allowed." She liked herself the chocolate. nuff said.
and what's with all the Harley chicks on POF? obviously if I'm not a big biker dude (which I"m not) then I figure they won't want me. So I stay away from them.
I suppose I may go to match again or Eharmony later when I have time to message a lot. But raising son keeping him from getting in the hair of the live in friends aint' easy. What sucks is that the ex has a boyfriend and I have nobody when it should be the other way around IMHO

On the other hand there are predatory fish on POF.
I think I will be single for the rest of my life :(((
I can usually flag those guys a mile away. Anytime they make a comment about my physical appearance, or tell me I am hot or sexy, I ditch them. I want someone who is interested in me as a person. Not just to hook up.
The guy I just broke up with, I meet on match.com. He was the first one I dated after the divorce. We had some strong chemistry, but unfortunately he's moving. And we're both a little nuts LOL. But we were a pretty good match, lots in common. I do miss him...
sigh...
I tend to just go with the flow on these things. But can see how it would get tiresome, getting rejected, stood up or whatever. I usually can only handle having my profile on those sites, for a day or two, before making it private. Work through the guys I've made contact with or whatever. Then go public again. I've made two great guy friend on POF, that I still text on a regular basis.
You put your profile up, and I don't think 1/2 actually read it, just look at your picture.
Had someone interested, then when I mentioned my children (who are 20 and 15) commented that he didn't realize I had children.
Then had the guy who stalked me - talked to him on the phone, never went out with him, but he thought we had a future. He was a police officer, and figured out where I lived.
There were other losers, so cancelled membership. Picking up people at bars, while not the way to go, seems better than internet dating.
Last guy i met on there owned a condo that turned out to be a singlewide, gave a monetary gift to his x every month out of the kindness of his heart (alimony), and gave his daughter $500 to go shopping all the time but couldn't afford netflix?
With respect, I think you guys need to lighten up a bit. Sure, there are retards of all sorts on the dating sites but they are everywhere you go anyway. Its just a matter of sorting the wheat from the chaff.
I put a genuine profile up with genuine piccies and each morning, would look to see who in my area was on line at the time. If one or two of them looked interesting, I sent a very simple message like,
"Good morning. I am Mick."
Most of the ladies actually responded nicely.:)
A few messages back and forth and we soon worked out if we were interested in meeting or not. Either way, no harm done.
I met my partner - now fiancee on such a site. We have been together over a year now and are very happy.
