i, for one, trust intuition and my own judgment. i sure don't plan to trust some stupid website designer to play matchmaker.
but, to each their own.
(good morning, Awesome!)
On Match and places like that I don't have pick up lines. I'm not a player. Eharmony lets me meet them at my own pace. Not everyone is compatible there or fits into charts (I get alot of teachers and lawyers strangely). It allows me to actually learn about the person slowly.
LOL - I did speed dating once. Talk about an interesting trainwreck of meeting people.
Everyone is differnt though :-)
BUT, it also screens out weirdos and insincere people and people who are totally not a plausible match at all. That's what I liked about it. On match.com I'd get these messages from guys who were so far out of the range of being even remotely compatible with me that I just sat there shaking my head. And it got tiresome to weed out those people. Plus, I felt awkward just "blowing off" people (unless they were just plain crude) so it felt like I was being rude all the time. On EHarmony, I just slowed the pace waaaaaay down to the point I could keep up. You can request "no more new matches" for awhile and just communicate with a few at a time.
Worked for me I guess. Well, I should qualify that. I only participated for about 6 wks. Dated a few nice guys. Not all perfect matches. But very decent men. I would be willing to try it again if I was looking for new dating possibilities.
I have enjoyed all of the witty comments in this thread, though!
maybe the important thing is that a newly single person starts somewhere, anywhere.
I think I'd rather go to the dentist and have my teeth pulled without novacain. Do I sound jaded or what?
Jeff...why don't you join a class at the local college...how bout a cooking class or home repairs? You might stand a better chance than a dating site :)
As for looking for a needle in a haystack -- that jus sounds way too desperate and time consuming. I'd rather use my time doing things I enjoy.
except albacore tuna, you aren't supposed to eat too much of that because of mercury
but nuts on fish is good, I had pecan crusted fish one...yummy
