Lots of foilage but most will give you poison ivy. Just try to go with the flow and play the odds. A shotgun approach to see if a fish jumps out of the water.
Compared to discos and rap clubs, I would say this has to be the saner choice.
Just wait until you run across the babes with the huge tattoos on their breasts who then go on to list their 132 virtues in alphabetical order. And, of course, they want friends only and love Harleys.
My theory on internet dating - people do it to put a "toe in the water" - so they can test it out without actually having to commit to anything. Thus they can play to amuse themselves, and then due to the anonymity, they can just disappear with no manners when the going gets serious. It's just a time filler.
I don't know what the other alternatives are though - I dont go to bars or clubs so I'm at the point of buying another 99 cats and just being done with it. All way too hard.
I was going to ask if Fish even HAD nuts....
i really do think that the best way to play the online dating game is to roll with it rather than against it. use that sense of humor to create zany profiles that will make the viewer roll with laughter because they know that they are so outlandish as to be completely implausible.
women know that men are much more like chevy chase than kevin kline and men know that women are much more like roseanne barr than halle barre. yet, we persist in our idealistic fantasies about the other sex and what we "settle" for while completely making fools of ourselves by overstating our virtues and accomplishments.
give me a breast-tattoo laden woman over a smiling corporate type any day. at least she will cut the grass if i have a cold.
Plus, I think some of the gals here are just so awesome that I'm forever ruined when comparing who's here to who's over there... ;-)
Yes, I'm one of those who paid big bucks to belong to a dating service and I get the same thing. One phone call and then nada. What appealed to me about the dating service was the back ground checks. At least I knew I wasn't meeting someone who was convicted of rape or murder LOL. I thought if someone was going to put that kind of money out they would be serious about finding someone. Not true. I think although these men have money, they made an impulse decision to join and then have buyers remorse.
You won't get any feedback from anyone so give up on that. Try meetups.
then, after about three messages, you meet that person for coffee. if you are having a good day, your eyes won't gloss over. if you are having a great day, you might even sense that rarest of things, hope.
stay focused on that needle in the haystack - not the haystack.
and, from now on, don't ask a woman if your profile is well written. it is a sign of weakness and Cinderellas loathe weakness.
I dated one girl from there for a year. My ex and I met on there. We were together for 5 years. I did go out on some dates with other people on there and while nice just didn't spark.
A bar can be the same type of place - lies or interest than but not later. so it happens wherever.
I couldn't stand match or yahoo in the past.
Just try not to take online dating personally (I did in the beginning). You might have to write 100 people to meet that special one.
I also tried match.com and EHarmony. Match.com had the most people, but was a little more of a "free-for-all" than EHarmony. EHarmony screens your matches and controls who contacts you and how much contact you allow, so you don't get the weirdness and harassment. But it also makes it a lot more slow and tedious to actually connect and communicate with people. You have to go through steps of answering questions and so on.
If I were to use online dating again, I would probably stick to EHarmony b/c I prefer the slower, more methodical approach. I would also write back and forth with someone long enough to feel comfortable and get to know them a bit before calling on phone or meeting in person. I think some people jump into phone calls and dating too quickly and they end up meeting a lot of people who are poor matches for them. If they "pre-screened" better before meeting, it might be more successful. jmho
