Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
It's going on 2 months since she told me she wanted to end things. We were together for alittle over 13 years and married for alittle over 7 years. I know it's still fresh and I keep hearing that time heals but it still hurts so deeply that I don't know how to get through the days. I have weekly therapy. We have a 7 year old. And we have done fairly well co parenting through this. She told me there is no plans on reconciliation. Well I have had to try to step back and not be friends for my own mental health. And it's so hard being short and indifferent to her. Each time I've seen he recently I just get butterflies with how beautiful she is. And I can't say it to her. I just don't know how I can continue on seeing her and not having all these thoughts. I've started self care routines. I've try so many things. I'll have a positive day and then all it takes is seeing her for a second and it's all gone. Any way to cope? Thanks

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
All that being said, most people don't leave long-term relationships without having someone else lined up. I hate to say it, but the odds that she is cheating are incredibly high. 90%+ I would say. Maybe it's not true in your case, but.... it probably is. It sucks. Look for the red flags.
Let's step back and look at your best course of action. I would think it looks something like:
1. Always put your child's interests first.
2. Take care of yourself and work on self-improvement in all areas. This might cause your wife to change her mind but I doubt it. In any case it improves your future life post-divorce.
3. Treat your wife with courtesy and kindness, but you need to build emotional separation due to what SHE has said she wants.
4. Interview one or more attorneys (reach out to friends for references) to get an idea of what divorce might look like and how it will affect you all. Be very careful with the financial aspect. You might have to take action now to protect yourself.
5. If she is 100% done with the marriage then you really need to accept that and steel your mindset. Adopt the right steps to move forward. Reach out to close people in your life as needed for support. Reach out here and in other support groups as needed. Do the above steps and make sure that you are thinking about your FUTURE life while you are suffering through this change.
I've been there, going through what you are. Stay tough, stay rational. Your life is going to improve. It could take a year, or two, or three. But it will. Stay on course and you will find new hope, new happiness, new goals. It all feels so bleak when you are in the middle of it. I wish you all the best!
