how YOU doing?
I worry that "treating" after therapy ~ or anything unpleasant ~ may assist in reinforcing the poor behaviour in order to get the treat.
I'm just remembering advice I was given not to distract myself from my own hard work directly after my therapy sessions but to give the work a chance to settle.
Punishment Rman? maybe give her a wooden cooking spoon and pretend to run away from her???
I play that game with my dog, makes her happy to pretend she's the alpha dog in our pack from time to time.
((still huggin your Daddy-heart)))
i remember not wanting to go.. and begging my mom.. i said "i will only tell lies!!"
I hope your daughter doesn't feel opposed to going.
i only went a couple of times
As an adult, i went to a psychotherapist. He is AMAZING. It was mostly a place where i could freely talk about what is in my head.. and he would listen.. and also point out patterns or behaviors in myself that i dcouldnt see without help.
He would point out how things may tie in from my past.. or WHY these things may be coming up for me, etc.
Never did he tell me what to do .. or what is wrong with me, etc. It was mostly to help me sort out my feelings, and to reflect back to me what i refused to see.
these are major breakthroughs rman. you're really doing great.
I can tell you that my son was clueless. And my daughter knows Exactly what she's doing and saying. My son needs lots of affection and reasurence. My daughter knows very well how to get the attention that she needs....and always has. She's easy to parent.....and tough love works really well with her. The same approach with my son...will create a meltdown and a miserable kid. There are no one size fits all answers with kids.
If there were parenting would be easy.
