He asked me to help him stay in line- he said he needed to be kept on track. I didn't really want the job but I loved him and he asked for help.
He had been irresponcible his whole life, he said, and now he wanted to become responsible and a person who contributed.
I tried my best to keep him on track and he thanked me for it. Even bragged to other people that he was a whole different person because of me.
I helped him to stop drinking, keep a job and get on the medication he needed. I went to the doctors with him to talk about his Hep C that was discovered (from dirty needle use years before) and what type of treatment he needed.
When I found out he wanted to leave and be with someone else, I asked him why. He said that it was because I was too controlling and demanding. That he felt like he'd been put in a box.
I didn't sign on to become his mother, but apparently he felt that way in the end.
Yes, I am so angry and feel so betrayed.
I also learned a valuable lesson. If someone wants to be "fixed" or "changed", I'll let them do it themselves. If they want it bad enough, they can put forth the effort to do it.
Am I wrong for being angry? I'm angry at myself AND him. No mushy political correctness: once a selfish, narcissistic asshole, always a narcissistic asshole.
There, I was out with it!!! Do I feel better? Somewhat. Thanks for the opportunity to vent. Until the next episode.........
I'm angry because he won't work on things and I'm angry because he blames me for it all - grow up it takes two!
I'm angry because I don't know what else to feel right now!
i'm angry because he said he was committed
i'm angry because he owes me money
i'm angry because i supported him for 2 yrs.
i'm angry because he's sober now and dumped me for someone in the halfway house.
i'm angry for the 8yrs. of broken promises
self-protection. It is the emotion by which you can tell others that you are
a worthy, valuable human being... It's the sword by which you can cut away
behaviors that dishonor you, the emotion through which you can teach others
how to treat you as well..."
I don't know who I am anymore;
I have to redefine what I want in life;
I have to trust again but I don't know how;
I don't know what love is.
May I please add all of yours to my list?
- that he ripped the battery out of my car, cracked the windshield, and ripped the panels off.
- that he tells people how fat and disgusting I am, that he is just too good of a Guy to have dumped me, he had to wait 3 years.
- that he has our cute house in the woods, huge yard, garage, you name it and my other dog, the only reason being that he has all his junk and it would be impossible to move it. I live in a small 1 bedroom and can no longer foster abandoned dogs as I used to. I hate him.
- I hate that he told everyone we knew he was dumping me because he thinks I am fat and disgusting, but he didnt tell me. They all must have had a good laugh. And I wondered why his Dad suddenly started saying how big women can be beautiful too. Geez, I never saw it coming. All his family just pitied me now that I think of it. It still makes me mad.
- That he kept telling me I was beautiful and that he loved me, that I was his soul mate etc, when the whole time he was lying. He even said he would marry me to keep me with him.
- that he has lowered my faith in mankind in general. i believed him, i felt he was my soulmate, i loved him truly and honestly. and he sh*t in my face.
- what i really hate is his new personals ad where he explains that he is unemployed, broke, gets horrible diarhhea (he really put this in!), drives a broken down car, isnt interested in marriage, is looking for a sugar momma to take care of him. He stipulates that the woman he wants can be unemployed, have no money, drinker or smoker is ok, have emotional baggage is ok, be tall or short, be married or unmarried, old or young, his only requirement is that she not be overweight. Everything else is just fine with him. What an idiot!! I could strangle him!!!
- I hate that I can't see my dog, I love her. She is a beautiful husky rescue that we ended up keeping. He will not be reasonable and arrange visits or swaps with the dog I kept. He told me that I can visit with her in the car in the parking lot while he is inside having his weekly "singles breakfast". I can just see it, him inside telling everyone to come see the cow he used to be with. So, I gave her up and asked him to take good care of her and that if he can ever not take care of her that I would take her. It was so sad, she didnt eat for a week after I left. When i came to pick up my stuff she made this noise that was so sad, she had never made that noise before, like a little sobbing sound. It was horrible. My father was there and he had to leave he felt so saddened by the whole thing. You see fostering her was my idea, he just went along with it but fell in love with her too. Anyhow, i hope she is doing well and that she knows I love her. That one makes me cry all over my keyboard and it makes me angry too.
- I cuddle my dog. when I hold her I know that there is goodness in the world and it soothes me.
- I exercise - anything where I get sweaty helps.
- I listen to inspiring music, angry music
- I call someone and bi*ch.
- I eat whatever I feel like without apology
- I write down my feelings
- I drive to somewhere remote in my car and I just scream and yell until it is all out.
- I remind myself that I was genuine and honest and that I believe in Karma
- I clean - clean anything - clean everything, until I am too tired to be angry
- I got for a long drive with no destination, it is like meditation. Oh, I also meditate. ;)
I'm angry because his life keeps getting better and better while my son and I are the only ones who appear to be suffering.
I'm angry that he at least has somebody to go home to at night.
I'm angry because he left an educated woman who loved him unconditionally, cleaned the house, cooked dinner, washed laundry, took care of our son, saved for our future, put up with his shit, and thought the world of him for a woman who has no high school diploma, no job, refuses to clean house, cook, do laundry, or move away from her mom,who does everything for her (and now him).
I'm angry that he feels no guilt for what he has done.
I'm angry that he "doesn't understand why I don't like her".
I'm angry that he is a selfish ass who can only think about what he wants and what makes him happy.
I'm angry that he dropped me without a second glance and I can't stop loving him.
Now...for how I'm dealing with it. I spend alot of time venting to my family and friends (poor people...Thank God for them) and hanging out on DS.
I am angry that he is shoving this fat whore down our children's throats trying to become the family of his dreams.
I am angry that he leaves my life in shambles while he walks off into the sunset with his new ready made family.
I am angry that the man I trusted my entire adult life turned out to be a liar, cheater, embezzler, abuser, and a downright piece of chicken shit.
How do I handle my anger? I think about the day I can ream him for his behavior and let all of his family and friends know what he really is.
How do I deal with it? I let go. I wish no ill will upon him and have turned him over to God. I cant take care of him any longer and can no longer put myself or my son in this situation. Its been a very long road but I'm choosing to deal with the anger in a loving way. Sounds strange I know but i feel better about me if I shrink him down in my mind to the size of a little itty bitty thing who no longer has a powerful presence in my life. I can still hold him in my heart in this "small" way and close the door very gently when I need to do so rather than slam it.
