Breakups & Divorce Support Group
Just broke up with someone or in the midst of a difficult divorce? Breaking up is difficult no matter what the circumstances are. They say that time heals all wounds, but sometimes a listening ear or a hug can work wonders for the heart. Whether you need a place to vent, someone to hold you to No Contact, or need advice about what to do, we're here to help.
I am 64. Over the last three years my husband has been involved with a younger woman who he recently had a baby with. Throughout he kept telling me that he loved me and wanted to work things out. But we never had a child and he wanted his own child. I have finally cut off communication. A divorce agreement was submitted. But I think about him 24/7. I can't seem to move on and don't have a purpose. I go through the days worrying about where I will live. How I will feel whole again. I miss having my partner. But I know that he is very flawed. And I know that I deserve better. So how do I redefine what I'm going to do to find contentment again? How do I stop thinking about him. He wants me in his life, but I know that is not good for me. There's a reel looping in my head that I can't stop. I know there are millions who have gone through this. What made the difference for them ? Can I find a similar path?

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
*He* wants you in his life??? Why? So he doesn't feel guilty? Or so you can hear all about his new baby with the other woman?? NO THANK YOU.
It's normal to feel the way you do now. You have been through a lot. Time to think about YOU for a change, since no one else has been doing that, certainly not him. Think about all the things you want to do with your life. Things you like to do, places you want to go.... get excited about your new and exciting life that is ahead of you.
Keep in contact with your friends, your side of the family (not his side, as you don't need to hear about what he is doing). The sooner you cut off all contact with him, the faster you will get through this.
If you think you really can't cope, I would suggest therapy. Therapy can help a lot with break ups. Also, look on Amazon for some divorce books, break up books, infidelity books.... it helps to read some of these books.
Best of luck to you. You will get through this. Be patient with yourself. You have been through a trauma.
Check out the divorce and break up books on Amazon. Also, there are some good videos on YouTube, and podcasts about break ups and how to reclaim your life again.
Get excited about all the things you have been wanting to do! All the new people you will be meeting. You're going to have a great time.
focus on yourself, leave him and his action behind you.
Love yourself for the kind loving person you are.
Forgive yourself, listen to your pain and hurt know that is it normal.
reach out here and to people who will listen.
keep your daily journal strong.
I pray you are healthy and safe.
That story of him wanting his own child is simply an excuse to demean you and make you continue to allow his abuse. No, no, no. If he rejects you because you can't make a baby with him, it makes me angry for you and want to puke. Please don't see this as your being bad or at fault. What if he had not been able to muster up good sperm and the fault was really his that there was no child? Would you have gone out to find a new lover so you could make a baby? I doubt it. This man is selfish, self absorbed, maybe even narcissistic or a sociopath as he simply does what he wants, to heck with you and your feelings and his commitment.
This man is a scumbag and you are making his behavior about how you were not good enough so he strayed. Please, please, start to see this differently. He is a user and an abuser. He wants you in his life so he gets sex with you and with her. Do not do this because it is self damaging when you need to be self lifting or affirming and self loving. See the truth of who this man is. You deserve better. Get counseling. There are Divorce Recovery support groups that are not expensive. Read some books about people like him, Life Code, is a good one about people in general not just about cheating husbands. Also journaling every evening, pen to paper, is a great way to release those looping ruminations and start to see a new perspective.
When a man says he wants to work it out he means he wants both, or he wants you to be sitting on the side lines so he can come back to you if the better thing does not work out.
I know that deep down you want him to say he is sorry and misses you and wants to be with you, they would not get that, they see it all in black and white and say get rid, its not that simple when you are in your 60s and been with the person a long time.
Living alone can be a nightmare when you are in your 60s, I know. You cant just get some else.
As for talk to family and friends, why assume you have family and friends? Very often with the elderly their partner is their whole life,. or their family is his family and they are not part of that anymore.
We can chat if you like, not necesssarily here where everyone can see it, you can private message me.
