When I was your age, my son was 2. I know how hard it is to be a young parent.

I agree with RJ, when you finish your time at that school, continue your education. It's very important. Even if you go to a tech school of some kind. Since you have a dependent, you should qualify for grants.

You sound like a very intelligent young man. I have no doubt that you will take good care of your daughter.

I am just SO impressed by you Luck. You are an awesome person. What's so amazing is that you have such strong conviction to do the right thing.

You will have a rough road, but you will be guided and cared for by forces 'out of sight'. You'll feel it. I promise you.

As everyone has said, do what ever you can, (government programs, etc.) to continue your education. It will be worth it down the road.

Your daughter is going to grow up with a very, very fine man,...which in turn will make her one hell of woman.

Do the right things is the best in the long run. You may lose spouses, significant others and even friend, but your children god willing will be there for the rest of your life if you teach them well.

Thanks to everyone who replied. It's so nice to gain positive feedback about the kind of person I am as well as some advice for my future. I very much plan on continuing my education after high school (God willing, I'll be graduating this year.) I was supposed to graduate last year, but I got very sick and was unable to go to school for 6 months, which made me lose my year. I'm pretty sure this year is lost already also due to extreme illness, but here's hoping it's not. You all are very kind and I'm glad I decided to join DS and more importantly, this support group. I was pretty scared at first I must admit, given that I'm so much younger than a lot of you, and the types of responses I've gotten in the past about me being completely devoted to one person at such a young age. It's nice to know that not everyone in the world thinks I'm a "dumb child" for having been devoted this young. I absolutely adored my daughters mother, and I was so shaken by her passing, that I think when I met the other girl, I wasn't even thinking straight and it caused me to fall for her when I should have just said no. I knew she was a fake and a liar from the beginning, I was just blinded by what I thought was love. I knew I loved her, but it's clear she didn't feel the same about me. If nothing else it's taught me that I need to be weary of who I let in my life, if not for me, than especially for my little Zoebug. At any rate, I've had plans for a long time of going to university and majoring in both psychology and social services as well as a minor in early childhood education. The best time of my life, aside from my little Zoey being born, was when I was a nanny over the summer (for the family that is taking amazing care of my Zoey for the time being.) If nothing else, it further proved that I was spot on with my dreams and goals for my future. I hope to be the best father I can be to my little miracle, even if I have to do it alone forever. I promised myself at a very young age that I'd never be my father. That includes me never drinking or doing drugs. I got mixed up in drugs once, but luckily it was before she was born, and I've since gotten myself clean and I'll never do them again, because she doesn't deserve a life like that.
