after your wedding day, everything bought is equally owned. period. every debt is equally shared too. period. every dime put in the bank is equally owned. period.
if a newlywed husband buys a house and puts it only in his name, IT DOES NOT MATTER. the house is automatically owned by his newlywed wife.
these are probably common things in all states. a Maryland divorce lawyer will know the details for your state.
whether you stayed in the house or left the house, it probably does not make a difference as to your rights.
nail him to the wall for money. he deserves it. no man, regardless of how difficult his wife is to get along with, deserves to screw around on her.
I would not be so quick to sign the house over to him unless you can come up with a SUBSTANTIAL AMOUNT OF MONEY. If you ask me, they deserve each other. What type of newly wed woman would engage in an extra marital affair? Of course, someone who will do the same to your soon to be ex husband. They deserve each other.
I remember the experience of being a newly wed and being in a state of "Fantasy with my ex-husband". The thought of having an affair was foreign to me. He had the affair. He thought I should sign the house over to him. Guess what "My two sons grew up in the home that they deserved." My thinking was that my children do not deserve less than, because my ex-husband deviated.
Hugs to you.
Then again, you do not have to sign the house over to him. Joint partnership?

Sending hugs! And Amen sister!!!
I did go see an attorney - matter of fact - the same attorney for the soon to be ex-husband of the woman my husband is shacked up with. Figuring she has all the evidence she needs and more knowledge of the case then any other lawyer. Yeah right, she wants a $3000.00 retainer. I don't have 3 cents to rub together let alone $3000. Maryland has Pro Bono program. I sent my application in and I am hoping that they will help me. If I am approved, they will pay $1600 torwards my attorney fee at $80/hr. If it goes over that amount, I will be responsible for the remaining balance. Please say a prayer for me. I can use all the help I can get financially, emotionally and physically.
OH, on top of all of this. I have some medical issues and each time I have tried to say something to him about them. He cuts me off and asks me about the "separation papers" and have I signed them yet. I tried to tell him that I am undergoing several procedures to see if I have the big "C". But he just wont listen. Jerk!!!!!!
Good for you for taking some proactive steps.
