Married mom of 4 (2 college age, 2 under 14) yearning to escape these constant feelings of loneliness, worthlessness, depression and despair. It's heart wrenching living in a home and wanting to thrive in my marriage but my partner has given up and forced me into celibacy. No kissing, no hugging, no touching. No type of physical contact or intimacy. We barely even speak AND WE SLEEP IN THE SAME BED. I'm in so much mental anguish, that it's manifesting physically. Body aches, headaches, no appetite, lethargic, lazy...I have never felt this type of pain before.
My husband and I have been on a downward spiral for two years and it has finally dawned on me that it will never get better. How do I move on? I've cultivated our home for almost 20 years. Everything I have and am is vested into this home and family. Knowing that I have to walk away from it all for my sanity and my life has me completely frozen. I think about all the moves I need to make but I'm stagnant. Covid isn't helping the matter any. I was laid off in March and have no desire or drive to even work for anyone else or create my own income. I feel stuck.
I've contemplated packing a bag and finding a homeless shelter in Florida or somewhere warm just escape and try to force myself into starting over. How do I leave my children? I certainly can't uproot them when I'm starting over from scratch, especially when I don't even know where to start. How do heal myself in this home with him, so I can find the determination to walk away and build the life I dream? I'm so lost right now...

I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...
Do you have friends you can chat with, family you can talk to? I think you are feeling lonely in your marriage. Talking with other people could help give you an outlet to vent. Look online for volunteer opportunities. Keep busy with your own life, outside of your marriage and kids.
Keep a journal. Write in it often. Get those feelings out on paper. It really will help you feel better.
Maybe your husband would go to marriage counseling? Is it a physical reason, health reason? Drugs, drinking, another woman? Maybe if you could talk to him about why he is like this, you two could solve it.
