Hi. I'm 44. My boyfriend of 5 years and I ended our relationship last night. We are both divorced and had been living together for the length of our time together and I can't picture my life without him. He moved 2.5 hours from his home town and whole (big) family to be with me. He never seemed to adjust to being away from them. We had a great first two years but the strain of missing his family turned into regular fights between us. He would see them about one weekend a month but that wasn't enough for him. He only seemed to be happy when he was going back home. I started to resent the trips home because he would drink to oblivion with his folks every time we went there and he would smoke packs of cigarettes too - he never did either of those things in our life together. Things became complicated when COVID-19 started and our state went on lockdown. Being in an essential business, he had to continue working and I myself haven't been able to work for more than two months. We both had opposite ideas on how to stay safe. I am very scared of the virus and he is not. He would continue to see some members of his family (his grown kids recently moved to the same town as us) despite them taking no precautions to stay safe. I felt unsafe and still do. During the pandemic, we had frequent arguments over how I felt he was endangering me and my kids and how he felt I was just too controlling. Last night we ended it and I am not doing well. I barely slept last night, I cry constantly, and I don't think I can get out of bed today. Because of the lockdown, I feel like I have no outside support. My whole family is in France, where I am from. I don't feel comfortable seeing the few friends I have because of COVID. I really need a hug and sadly the only person I want to talk to about this is him. He's my person, well was. My best friend. Now I have no one and I feel so hopeless. I don't think I can get over this. I am just so sad.

I'm horrified! I knew my insurance would go up due to getting a new car but I didn't expect it to go up over $2,000. I did have an accident with the snow/ice in the winter. I was just telling my brother that I have had my car since March 2, 2026 and have only spent $75 on an oil change. Now this! I called another insurance company and their quote was over $4,000. I guess I have to pay...

It sounds to me that it was a good decision because as you said, your health and life and your children's lives are more important. You did the right thing.
Keep writing things out. It will help get through this. No easy way through it. Stay strong. Have No Contact with him, as that just brings you back to square one. You can do this. You are strong.
