Personally my kids and I are better off emotionally since the divorce...
Kids are very observant, even though my parents 'acted' like they were happily married we (the kids) picked up the other vibes in the house. To me it was like walking on eggshells..
When they finally split up we were so relieved, the horrid stress was gone..
Anything is possible, if you two really make an effort to make the marriage work out, it could work..
With that said, why fake it? Not only will it hurt YOU and the spouse but the kids will be hurt either way. I guess you are prolonging the hurt for the kids until they are adults. Kids understand and will adjust to the new life. Infact for my kids although it was difficult at first, they adjusted well and like the fact they can go to either place.
I understand the thought process, I really do. I think it would be great if it worked out as well as it sounded but the reality of it is not the same.
I'm with a no, I love my kids but there is no way I can live with someone who hurt me as bad as my stbx did. I think people need to live their lives and even though we try not to hurt people, we do. I think everyone deserves happiness in their life and our plan is mapped out for us. I guess basically is I don't agree with staying together for the kids. At some point "One" of the parents will stray to get that loving feeling and at the end of the day the other will be hurt with the "hopes" of it working out.
Hope that wasn't to clustered for the mind to understand.
We found peace once my dad moved out and announced their divorce. Children are alot smarter than we give them credit for.
It's true children would rather be in a broken family, then live in one.
Sure there is that possibility of working things out, but usually past behavior predicts future behavior.
Rman, Just don't get into a big fight about it at the taco stand, and walk off without finishing your dinner.
So, ask me how I feel about this matter?
