I don't think the problem necessarily is your looks or your money or lack thereof. It's difficult when you get older to find mates, period. It's not like when you were in high school and college and every day you rolled out of bed and waded into a potential dating pool of hundreds if not thousands of eligible people. There is just nothing that can compare to that once you're out of college. There are definitely women out there who would find you attractive and want to be with you. The challenge is to find them and the only way you're going to do that is by expanding your pool of potential girlfriends. You have several options there. You can do it online (like you've already tried) or offline. Think of all the ways you can expand your pool of potential mates offline ... maybe things like taking a class, volunteering or joining a club. You could also try planting a seed in the minds of friends by saying something like, "Hey, I'm looking to meet new people. If you know any nice women who are available, let me know." You can say it in a half joking way if you want. The thing is that you are marketing yourself and you have to do everything you can to get yourself as much exposure as possible. (((HUGS)))

Thanks Samantha. Guess I'm a bit shy about mentioning to ppl to see if they know people. I have a married friend who is kinda from a rich crowd. He knows if my issues and think he is embarrassed to introduce me cause I don't come or have money. I have my own place and work but you know some ppl are pretentious that way. He is good to talk to but think far as getting out there maybe volunteer is good. I've dated from work before long ago but that wasn't a good idea.
Just curious too. I was on here a long time ago. Seems they changed it where you can see what location ppl are in. Do they have a feature like that on here?

I understand completely. Volunteering is a great way to meet people and the people who volunteer are usually pretty down-to-earth and just plain good souls. You don't find many players or phonies who will waste their precious "me" time volunteering. For years, I volunteered for our local no-kill animal shelter. I walked dogs, bathed them, fed them, brushed the cats and kittens, cleaned their cages and fed them ... whatever needed to be done. It was a lot of fun and again, I met a lot of super nice people there. If you go to volunteermatch.org, you can find lots of volunteer opportunities in your area.

There is an animal shelter not far from me I did one time. After my cat died. I'll look into that again.

Animal rescue groups are also in need of volunteers all the time and you don't have to actually rescue the animals if you don't have a strong heart for seeing those kinds of things up close like that. They need all kinds of help with things like fundraising, meet and greets, fostering, etc. I have a rescue dog and I've gone to several events with him designed to raise awareness of rescues. I think there are rescue groups for cats too.

I'm hardly obsessed with it.

It does come to mind when I hear about online relationships.

As I said, it's incredible to me the lengths people will go to.

There was a very nice young woman with everything going for her - looks, career, everything -"in love" for years with a person who basically didn't exist.

And the stories went on and on.

It's mind boggling. People just create these online fantasy lives.

Chefjp, I wouldn't be so hard on yourself.

What quality women value in a relationship are honesty, integrity, kindness...you get the picture.

Stay positive and build on your strengths. You'll find someone worth your time.
