Hi All, a few weeks ago I posted about finding that 'what if' person. Thank you all for your comments and support. I had my reunion with him, and it was fantastic, and I mean sweep me off my feet fantastic.

However, as I drove away...I started to think....

Is it really possible to have the fairytale? Is there really such a thing as a happy ending?

I mean after my separation, I have been so jaded by love - everything I once thought was love, changed for me in the blink of an eye. And, now, I don't know if I have faith in love. Sad, but true.

Are there any optimists left out there who can help? I know we are all probably very down on love and the possibility of love - but can any of you out there see yourself being able to open up and love completely again?

I dont know. I used to always believe in happy endings. But now, im not so sure.

I have an uncle who got divorced around my age, he is 20 years older now, and he still is single and lives like a hermit. He basically never got over it, and he never found new love.

The thought of becoming him scares the shit out of me to be honest.

Not a big fan of love either. Thought that I had a partner for life but I was wrong. Being the divorce rate is what it is, don't see how it is true.

I think part of the healing process is accepting that we DIDN'T have the fairytale like we thought! It might still be out there and the only way to find out is by taking chances again. I don't want to be old and bitter oneday and look back and say I wasted my life because I was afraid to love again. My husband hurt me but not enough to ruin the REST of my life too!

When I think of the word "fairytale" I think of perfection. Since none of us are perfect there is no such thing as the "perfect" relationship. However that doesn't mean that a solid relationship is not to be found.

I believe in fairytale endings, for certain! Both parties have to be open to make the storyline wonderful. Two willing parties, in LOVE, willing to work at it FOREVER and put each other first can work. I know I will find it. I know who my prince is already.

Don't we have to believe? If we don't believe it's possible to find happiness and love again, then it's a life wasted! My divorce will be a part of my life, but I am not going to let it be all of my life.

yea I think "fairytales endings" does lead into perfectionism..I'm not looking for perfection just someone who is willing to progress.

AAAkkkkkk!!! I hate to rain on anybody's parade here BUT I think believing in fairytales is what got most of us here. I call it the Cinderella syndrome and it keeps us from seeing red flags and the reality of who someone else is and who we are. We go into it with unrealistic
expectations, which sets us up for inevitable disappointment. And how can anyone live up to that? I don't want to. I say go into with clear lenses and allow everyone to be human and falable and the outcome will be way better.

i will be more cautious with my heart next time around but i still believe that love is out there,i see it everyday,everywhere...and just because it didn't work out for me this time..maybe it wasn't supposed too..maybe this was to teach me something so that i could take myself to the next level.i still believe in love..it's marriage i'm not so sure about.

after two failed marriages I can say without doubt I don't believe in fairytale endings! I would have still been married to my first wife if it was my choice. With that being said, I have no choice in the matter if the other person decides its time to move on. For me its 2 strikes and I'm out. There will be no 3rd strike for me!

After being burned as bad as so many of us have-how do we trust that any fairy tale won't turn into a nightmare-I will never be the same I will always keep my distance-I will always be a little closed off-My X was so wonderful in the beginning-I trusted his kindness-i believed all his lies-I will never do that again and that sucks because I may one day meet a decent man-and I won't be able to trust-My fairy tale turned into a nightmare-my dreams went to shit- and I will never beliee in a happy ending-

Do you still love your ex? I think you can start over but not until you deal with unresolved feelings. Too much baggage

Yes I too thought that I was going to be with my wife for the rest of my life. that is why the divorce is such a shock to the system. That having been said...my highschool sweet heart and I are going out for coffee friday night. She contacted me last weekend. We have not spoken a word for 17 years. This may be interesting. Hey if anything I have a new friend
