Melinda, I was responsible for setting up and running a battered/abused hotline for women.
Women stay with these guys due to self esteem issues. I have seen many women who were beat up and it's not fun. Do you need to wait until he damn near kills you?

Wow, I am sorry, the abuse is just not at all acceptable. My stbx has looked at porn off and on all our marriage, I just found out about a year ago. I knew he did when we were first married, but thought he had stopped. Anyway, mine started going to peek shows too and also other things. I think it became and addiction for him. Anyway my hardest thing about it is that he is an ob/gyn, I just find that disturbing for some reason.

these are two serious problems. Until he gets help he will only continue to go down hill. You safety is of the up most concern. It is up to you what you do, but this is not being petty. There is a lot of information on Porn addiction, and help, as for the beatings, there is always the police, and help for women in your position. Get help please

There is NEVER a good reason to physically abuse you!!!! The porn is one thing but the hitting is on a completely different level. Your safety is at your risk!!!

sorry girl I must have skimed over that or not seen that he hits you, I thought it was just the porn thing. thats why I said what I said. If he hits you you need to leave, thats in no way right for you or the kids. again the porn thing is one thing, but him hitting you is another.

I have recently 'evicted' my husband primarily for texting other women he meets through porn chat rooms. I am very openminded about porn in itself but like yours he was completely addicted and it is then a turn off for me. But by then he is gagging for it basically and just paws at me like a piece of meat. Like you I thought I was being petty over a few text messages, but its more like a few hundred. And anyway all this means I can't trust him and don't think I will ever look at him in the same way. So I completely understand where you are right now.
Regarding the hitting, mine has never raised a hand, but he verbally and emotionally has me battered and shattered. Please remember you can ring 999 even before he has raised a hand. Don't ever be a victim, or worse still a statistic. I read that 2 women a week are killed by their current or ex partner. Don't let it be you! Be strong and you will be better for it.

Ok, you're not insane, you're definitely not being petty over leaving him for his porn addiction...BUT you are undoubtedly not thinking correctly if you continue to think any of his behavior is acceptable and stay with him.

I'm not sure some guys on here understand the difference between looking at porn just to have fun sometimes and using porn as a substitute for emotional contact with your own wife.
It destroys a woman's self-esteem, and a lot of us have weak self-esteems to begin with...

If your husband truly respected and loved you like a loving committed husband should, he would #1 stop the porn BS since it's obviously destroying your relationship, and #2 NEVER EVER hit you, period.

You're doing a great thing by divorcing him, and I know it's not an easy thing to do, but this will be the best thing you could ever do for you and your precious child.

I don't think it's petty. My husband has a huge addiction to porn and it has totally ruined my self esteem. He also chooses it instead of me. It's so very heartbreaking. I left him a few weeks ago and now he's emailing women on an adult dating site. Still telling me he loves me and wants to work it out. I know how hard it is to leave....but please do it for your own safety and sanity. I am still trying to detach emotionally from him...I don't know why it's so hard to leave someone who is verbally and emotionally abusive but it is. The physical thing is another story. Please please go to a safe place.
