Dating Question, Help Please..

Ok im going on a date tonight. Yeah yeah I know its too early blah blah blah. Ive been completely honest with her about where im at and what im going through. We agreed to just talk on the phone and meet a few times and just see what we think about each other. So far our phone conversations have been a blast, I forgot I could laugh so much with a woman.

Ok well tonight we are meeting at a coffee shop, then we are going to a bar for a drink and some wings. Its our first get together.

Man ive been out of this game for 12 years, so could someone help me out with some advice.

Is it custom to bring a flower or something for her? We technically arent dating romantically so I dont want to seem corny. I dont want to look like an ass either. I just dont know how these things are done anymore. Im an old man for christs sake, never thought id be meeting someone at a coffee shop someday...LOL.

I would stay away from the flower(s) also. Just be yourself and maybe pick up the tab.

I agree to skip the flower. The date is occasion enough - since when did it become necessary to add a gift on top of the date itself, esp. a first date. I think that is placing too much emphasis.

I would say no to the flower also. Offer to pay for the coffee. Have fun. I don't think it's too soon to date as long as you are honest about your situation. Have fun!

My first date brought me a single flower and it meant the world to me,, that small genture actually made me remember him! It is but one small flower, it does not mean
love" or committment!

I agree with take the flower,, it makes her think that you actually thought of her before the date!

I would wait until you have a formal first date with a nice dinner. One single rose is nice for a formal first date. I had a guy bring me three dozen once and I thought wow this is over bearing!!! Turned out so was he.

No flower for a coffee shop meet. I like the idea of Coffee Shops because that is Simple-Less Stress. No trying to Impress.

DO NOT take flowers or any small tokens, just show up, and have a good time, my 2 cents, next time you talk to a potential date your past is just that your past, don't share it, have fun and don't drink too much.
