Dating Question, Help Please..

Ok im going on a date tonight. Yeah yeah I know its too early blah blah blah. Ive been completely honest with her about where im at and what im going through. We agreed to just talk on the phone and meet a few times and just see what we think about each other. So far our phone conversations have been a blast, I forgot I could laugh so much with a woman.

Ok well tonight we are meeting at a coffee shop, then we are going to a bar for a drink and some wings. Its our first get together.

Man ive been out of this game for 12 years, so could someone help me out with some advice.

Is it custom to bring a flower or something for her? We technically arent dating romantically so I dont want to seem corny. I dont want to look like an ass either. I just dont know how these things are done anymore. Im an old man for christs sake, never thought id be meeting someone at a coffee shop someday...LOL.

just go and enjoy yourself. all the best. i had fun on my date and then just freaked out after the second one.

i dont know what to tell you about what to do or say or bring, because I was 15 when I meet my wife, I dont have a clue what the hell I will ever do or say to another woman to pick them up, a mac daddy I am not.

I will say thou, enjoy the friendship and do not rush yourself, you are going to feel good, which is not bad, but dont just run off sleeping together thinking you found your new wife. Small steps and have fun.

Flowers are always good.. A woman always appreciates flowers. Even if its one. Dont have to go all out but a simple romantic gesture is always good. Just be nice and respectful and chivilry is great but dont over do it. :) good LUCK!

If you're just meeting as friends, I'd hold off on the flower.

Just be yourself. Take it slow. If you've made it clear that you want to take it slow don't send off mixed signals. For me, a flower would be a date.

be yourself...my first date in a long time brought me a single rose..but, we were talking about getting serious. I'd have to say in your situation..save your $ for the over-priced coffee..laugh and enjoy the company :)

TD66 I hear you. The only reason she agreed to keep talking to me after I explained my situation is because I never talked about my stbx to her. She had talked to other guys who were divorced a year or more and all they talked about was their ex's and that scared the hell out of her.

LOL, I dont like to talk about my stbx to anyone but you guys anyways.

I think if there is one thing that you two might have talked about, that she enjoys, like a song, or a book, or something "nice", to show her that you were paying attention to what she was saying might be a nice gesture. Not flowers tho.

Definitely no flowers...yet. Just be yourself.. Be careful if you move on to a bar that you don't drink too much. Your emotions are high and the alcohol could make you talk about things you normally wouldn't. Good luck! Hope you have a good time.

i had a guy bring me a copy of one of his cd's he loved and we had talked about. It was a great idea just b/c i felt like he was actually LISTENING to me!! Something my ex never did! Def do not talk about the ex though! No matter if she asks..Keep it simple! Good luck!! :)

Be yourself, look her in the eye, open the door for her, Personally, I love a man that places his back protectivly on the small of my back--even if we are just friends.
