Ok...so you guys wanna hear a ridiculously tragic, sad and empowering story.. Here goes. I'm 58 (woman), met my first husband at the age of 15 and married him 6 years later. Helped put him through school. We were married 6 years with no children. We were too busy chasing the american ie; money, travel, homes. Met my second husband 3 weeks after my divorce. Oh, forgot to mention I've never really dated (two blind ones). My second marriage produced 3 wonderful children. During our 32 years together we traveled throughout the country in full time Christian ministry, I homeschooled our children and supported him totally while his dream was being fulfilled in ministry and mine was being fulfilled as a fulltime supportive wife and at home mom. Eight years ago we started our church on the back porch of our home and eventually the congregation grew to have it's own building. Here comes the sad and tragic part. Last November my husband said he wanted to separate stating irreconcilable differences, (differences in ministry focus), him church and me children and grandchildren. Thought it would be ok to spend my later years as a grandma and slow down a bit. So guess what...courts ruled NO SPOUSAL MAINTENANCE...Because I didn't go after the churches assets and after my husband deducted his housing allowance, poor poor fellow wouldn't have much coming in. So now after 30 years of marriage, supporting him in ministry, working part time outside the home, teaching, preaching, counseling and doing all the secretarial work in the church, I have nothing. I'm having to move in with my children, look for fulltime work at 58 in this economy and acquire medical insurance through the state . Oh, and there is no retirement. By the way, he is still pastoring. So, here is the empowering part. I WILL MAKE IT....ON MY OWN...WITH GODS HELP. Never again will a man define me...Shame on me.

I have to say, I've been fairly stable for the past 9 years, except for anxiety issues. For any who don't know me, before 2017, I was a Mess. Seriously undermedicated crazy person. And, since I've been stable for so long, I had come to believe I was "cured". That bipolar just miraculously ended for me....Until last month, when some things started happening that used to happen. And now I'm...

Just read your story. How awesome you are to have had the opportunity to make a difference in so many lives while married those 30 some years. Although it appears that things went so bad, God is so able to make the remaining years the best of your life!
Your marriage was your classroom...and now you get to take what you learned and live a new life. I am praying that the pain, loneliness, and betrayal will be used by God to give you a new heart...one that is even bigger and softer and even more full of His love. Blessings to you dear sister as you step out of the water! Remember who is there to catch you!
I too had to move in with my son. Husband seems fine with son, who makes $10 an hour supporting Mom.
We'll make it. We have to.
It's hard to believe anyone would continue to follow a pastor with that kind of behavior toward his wife.
This is indeed an injustice.
