So far I am still friends with them and they have been extremely supportive. I wonder if it will still be that way after the divorce. I hope so, I did nothing wrong and I truly miss most of them.

I have taken a hiatus from his family--explained to them i have lost a lot of weight and have not been well. I really only miss his mother. She is generous and kind and reasonable. I hope to have her stay here for a visit down the road..

Im still talking to my frmr mil.She takes care of my daughter while ex works and I m sleeping and working 12hr shift.Dont miss his family and honestly wished some days didnt have to deal with mil.Rather see her then him tho.Hugs Rman

i know where you are coming from rman... we don't just lose the person we love.. we lose so many others that were part of our lives .. weird feeling it is... wish i knew the answer that makes it all better :)

I believe those friendships can be maintained as long as they were genuine...I am very close with his family - his entire family. His parents stay with me when they are in our town, his aunts and cousins are on my facebook - not his. I consider them FAMILY. He chose to walk away from me - but, none of them chose that and as a matter of fact - they refuse to. Do they know how you feel?...they are probably missing you to.

I was close to my SIL, she used to phone and keep up... till things got ugly with me and stbx, then blood is thicker than water after all!

Dont want to have anything to do with them. Wont even say hi on the street.

Loved my in-laws. Nice people, all of them. Have missed them very much.

I don't see me palling around with them, however, anymore than I see me palling around with the STBX.

I too 'lost' my ex's family...and they had been part of my life (and my sibs and parent's lives) since I was 14. I had been told LONG before marriage that I was a second daughter...Seems an odd way to treat a 'daughter'...but my impression is, they have little/no contact with ex either.

It is a shame...for ALL of them - as THEY are missing out on the lives of some pretty incredible people...my (and ex's) kids!

while the outlaws are complete enabling morons, i actually do like her brother...

He, at a young age, clued into the stupid games that their mother, in particular, plays and left home at 16 to avoid being sucked in further than he has... He's got a solid head on his shoulder and is the only one who can objectively see what his sister is doing is wrong and has no problem announcing it frequently, whether the outlaws will hear him or not (cause she's their perfect little princess who can do no wrong).

He's by here as often as he can possibly pull it off, considering he lives several hours away... at least once a month, sometimes every two weeks.

Which is more than I can say for my stbx lately, who hasn't been by in 3 weeks and announced last week that she wouldn't be coming by anymore for the forseeable future.

Nah Rman, she is.

Same with me rman, my family lives over 150 miles away, so her family was the only family I had here. It sucks, but that's the way it has to be I suppose. I'm still friendly with them, but I don't get to go to all the holidays and special events.

All of my in laws are doing everything in their power to stop my wife and I from splitting up. They are the greatest and I love all of them but they can't change my wife. Only she can. Yes, life sucks sometimes.

I am still on good terms with my in-laws, especially my sister-in-law. She and I get together and shop, have lunch, etc.

I've been invited to certain family events that ex and the ow aren't but there are also times they attend and I don't.

So far, so good. I'm enjoying the friendship while it lasts.

I am so fortunate and blessed, his family has remained my family. We actually have talked about this quite often, and I am the one that built the relationships with them over the years, not him. As a matter of fact, I am taking the kids down to Florida to spend a week with my in-laws. His sisters and I are best of friends. I feel the loss in our friends, though, people who I thought were friends with both, but aren't. I just stepped away from them, it's easier.
