the freedom of sailing, it must be amazing
I think you need to focus on developing your life: join a sailing club, give lessons, take yoga, play on an inter-mural softball team, etc. Be satisfied on your own, and I bet someone comes along.
And believe me, I have been rejected, but there are other fish in the sea.
Stop rushing things, and just chill the fuck out.
Spend that and you get a year membership I think.
See, basic economics.
Hope that makes you feel better.
Again Brother Tom has put it into prospective, finding someone to share your life is just the icing. You are doing what most of us wish we could, to live our dreams! In your case sailing.
Me? I had a job that had me in tears every FUKKING day, came home to a man that ignored me every FUKKING day.
He's gone to listen to his own demons and I was laid off. My health improved immensely, am off all my "keep her going" meds, and DS has kicked me in the butt to continue what I've always wanted to do....write.
Am I lonely? Yes. Am I alone? No. Do I wish I could wake up to a man's big hairy leg thrown over my hip, or have someone kiss me on his way to work, or get a phone call that ends with "I love you".....of course I do.
But I wouldn't trade this ME time for any of that.
........."Babe - all I know is what I see -
The couples cling and claw
And drown in love's debris.
You say we'll soar like two birds through the clouds,
But soon you'll cage me on your shelf -
I'll never learn to be just me first
By myself..........."
Learn to be YOU first and then WE will come along.
So my solution, over a month ago, was to bag it, and it was a good solution for me. I would rather be lonely than go through this stuff. Also, I agree with the idea of "live your life, don't worry about it (ok, try not to), and let things happen the way they're meant to." In my case, for now, what is "meant to happen" is me being alone. But such is life. I know I need to be content in my life in order for a new relationship to really work. I can't expect a relationship to fill in my holes... I hope that when I have one, she will complement me and I her, but I have never been a "relationship junkie" like some friends - not being able to live alone, so they settle for anything.
Anyway, sorry for rambling. I am kinda bummed about work today (asshole boss, stressful, over worked, dread coming in... fun stuff!!). I had a 4 day long weekend with my kids and it was wonderful. Now coming back to this is... BLECH. Oh well - thanks again Heave, and everyone.
