Blown off by my friends

Bloody hell. I was having a get together at my house for a few of my friends that I work with. There is 5 of them that said that they would be here. I cooked all kinds of food for them and only one of them showed up. One got detained with kids, three of them just never showed up and never called.

What the Heck? It isn't like I was just throwing something together for them and this was planned. Friggin bastards, that is the last time I do anything like that for them.

Even my friends blow me off these days. Hell, only reason none of you guys have left the room running is because you are stuck on the internet with me! You can only count on family I guess.

This irks me to no end. I have no social circle and even my "Friends" can't even be around.

I don't know, Heave, unless you slow down on the beans, I think you'll disqualify yourself from the romantic male lead part in anyone's DS fantasies.

Yeah my "best friend" of about 6 yrs just disappeared on me in my biggest time in need. He was a mutual friend of me and my 1st bf, my 7 yr relationship. After we broke up, he decided he could only have one of us as a friend. And altho my ex was constantly "borrowing" money from this friend and never paying it back, lying, and taking advantage of him, while I was there for him when he cried, talked to him for hours on end about our problems, and told him all the time that I love him (as a friend), he chose my ex instead of me. Never said anything to me. I just stopped hearing from him abruptly a couple yrs ago. But heard from my ex that they were still in contact. It sucks. I have no real friends now.

I started laughing when I read your post..But not in a mean way. The same damn thing happen to me.. Had a kitchen full of food and 2 people showed up out of what should have been 15. And the 2 that came were a couple, so that's really 1 person. Go figure!

Time to make new friends! "True" friends don't just blow you off! I have only had about 8 or 9 "true friends" in my life (and I'm 46...) I don't "lightly" call people friends. There have been many I was friendly with and LOTS of acquaintances. To me, friendship is a serious bond. It means someone who will drop everything to help you, it;s someone who will give you the shirt of his back (and even help you put it on), and someone you can tell ANYTHING, without fearing that they will tell anyone else. That is a hard criteria to meet and why I haven't had "many" friends... My "friends" would never have blown me off like that, of course ... it WOULD be a pretty small party, lol.

We are the piriaha of those who are not getting divorced. Most of my friends pretty much try to get away at the moment. Because they don't want to deal with the "not" of having me and the stbx together. Even friends that have been divorced, and are not remarried seem to want out.

You really do find the friends that are "good" people in all of this. I wonder if after I am through the fire how I will look back at the others who are wading through this. I am hoping I will have tolerance, and be a better person for it.

They sure don't seem like DS friends. Hey, have some compassion for those who ARE there for you. See the half glass full. You do have friends that came or wanted to come, and you learned some people were not worth your time. This is a clean up time. I would give friends a call, talk some and see if they contact me. Everybody has surprises in this time, some people that were close are gone, some less close people are still around. In any case, lesson learned. I am sure you had a good time with the friend that did show up. And we are real people that are around you too....it is not only DS, each of us are real people that choose to be responding to you and giving you suppoert. Value what you DO have, see the half glass full. Huuuuuuuuuuuug
