I do the same thing and have noticed since my divorce that a number of my friends confide more of their unhappiness and problems to me because he and I were to them the couple they had it all for over 40 years. So did I until he blew it all without warning.

But, I do something else, too. I see really elderly couples helping one another and hurt because that should have been us--and now will never be.

Obviously many marriages do work. But just think...for every two couples that you see, one will end up divorced...

i remember everyone thinking my father was the greatest guy on earth. outside. inside we lived a nightmare, don't get me wrong, i loved him, he was my dad. but there was suspected sex abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse, i believe my father truly hated women and treated them with no respect, of course the barmaids were treated wonderfully. outside he talked about the awesome family he had, but inside, it was sad. i know that he was a product of his own environment, i don't blame him. i moved on from that which is why i can love him as my dad. so, it's true, you never ever know what is going on with anyone, unless they choose to share. xoxoxoxoxoxox

I personally know six other people - one of them a relative - who either went through or is going through all this at the same time I was, and all were cases of infidelity except one and that was a selfish porn addict who was letting his "problem" get in the way of his family and marriage and risking his wife's career.

My cousin went through all this. His X-wife left him for another man, then moved in with yet another guy. Their divorce was final in April. Two weeks ago, he got "the call" from his X. "Hi, it's me...I think I made a mistake."

some people are truly happy. the other half aren't. I used to be one of those people everyone thought was happy. There is no way to know sometimes...
