Behind closed doors

On the way to work this morning, I was driving through my neighborhood and looking at all the homes. It made me wonder what actually went on behind closed doors. I have been stuck in the 'poor me' cycle, thinking that only myself and DS members were unhappy. The the reality is that nobody knows what actually happens behind those closed doors. I bet many of the people you see on a daily basis, are actually unhappy and put on a front when they are in public. Just a thought.

That reminds me of when I was single.

I used to look at married people at work, then when invited to their house, I got to see that it wasn't as rosy as projected.

They would paint a nice picture at work, but the reality didn't match.

I have some similar thoughts.
I see a happy couple at the store and I think "yeah right....wonder if she knows he/she is cheating or if he /she beats him/her."

Some times ppl are happy .Maybe the couple just had a good round of sex .

People were shocked when my ex and I separated. They had no idea there was anything wrong in my home. My ex was nice to everyone but me, and I put on a great front. Appearances can be deceiving.

let's put it like this, a place that y X and I frequented, the little hostess said when I get married I want to end up just like J and C, little did she know that with in 3 months the divorce was on......

This is interesting to think about.. I think we all seem to look at life this way. That others lives are always better. That is why I am trying to now just look at my life and how I can make it what I want it to be. Hugs to you...

dead on Rman.... no one really knows what's going on behind "closed doors"... the grass isn't always greener as we all on here know... it's the idiot ex's that think it is and so off they go looking instead of enjoying the relationships they are in

No one know what goes on in the mind of a closed person either. You can live with someone, and be oblivious.

If you factor in the number of couples who'd get divorced if it wasn't for the: a) Kids, b) Parents/Family c) Financial lifestyle and most often d) Religion...

Yeah, I'd agree, there are probably a lot of unhappy people out there.

Which begs the question... Why do married people live longer than singles then?

The comedians always say, "It's not that they live longer, it just SEEMS longer..."

My favorite comment about marriage... We've been married for 10 years. It feels like 10 minutes...UNDER WATER! :-)

BrokenChi..has it spot on there too. If it weren't for the closed mind maybe a lot of us wouldn't be divorced or separated right now. That would be me...oblivious I guess, but I'm also not a mind reader and when someone is not happy they should at least come forward and communicate that. Rman...I think of that too..how many are really happy...I'm sure you'd be surprised.

My ex went from one day of loving me to the next....POOF! I was shocked and asked him how, what, when, where, why? He told me that it was his 'dark side'....WOW...I wish I had known the Darth in him.....I would have Jedi his ass before I said I do and had his baby.

RMan - Through all of this, I have become much more accute at reading people's body language and kind of being able to "read between the lines" with people's comments and behavior toward each other and I noticed a married couple friends of mine recently who I would not be surprised if one of the two of them left soon. A lot of tension and fighting going on and I could tell she had spent a good deal of time crying not long ago when I was at their house. He seems very distant and aloof when around her sometimes too. Even when others are around. I would hate to say all that and be wrong but it was just something I noticed.

I know another couple who seems like they bicker all the time, but they've been together 19 years and are making plans for their 20th anniversary. Go figure.
