But it's my choice. I have more control of our assets this way. He will pay for my children's education until they graduate.
I can't control his behavior but he will damn well pay for my kids!
However, with children, it is a tough call. Depending on their ages, they can sense the discontent. Every situation is different and you know your children.
I have been seeing a marriage counselor by myself and she suggested staying married for a few more years as a temporary solution. Knowing my situation, it makes sense to wait a couple years. However, it feels a little creepy.
He can't stand his wife any more after 20 years but refuses to end their marriage because he refuses to give up 50% of his assets.
He would just prefer to remain unhappy most of the time.
I find it difficult to tolerate emotionally, but I think it will be better in the long run (for our son and for our finances) if I can stick it out for a couple more years.
