I flew back to my hometown on Christmas Eve, and am here through the 2nd. It's been good to get away from the demanding job, but the downtime has given me too much time to think. Suddenly, I'm back where I started. Constantly crying, having complete meltdowns, overthinking everything, feeling like this will never be okay... I know everything happens in waves, but this is brutal. I'm also having to rely on anti-anxieties more regularly, which I don't like.
Despite the fact that the given reasons for the breakup are sufficient and make sense, suddenly I'm stuck on insecurities about my looks and our sex life. The months leading up to the breakup made me feel so insufficient, and even though he's insisted otherwise, I can't shake the fear that it was really just that I stopped being desirable enough. I know it's a possibility, and that it's a possibility I have to learn to live with, but I can't remember the last time my self-esteem was so low. This is tough.

Some of the stuff my recent dates have done with me, am sure they didn't do half of that with the ex husbands the last few years of marriage. It's obvious why they are acting that way with me
I'm not denying some people are manipulative and intentionally mislead while dating by pretending to be someone they're not and then abandoning the pretense as soon as they've sealed the deal. I hardly think that accounts for how many people change throughout their relationships and after breakups.
A lot of women do things while dating that they didn't with their ex-husbands because of low self-esteem, because they have been led to believe they got dumped because they weren't skinny enough, pretty enough, sexy enough and the only way to get a man is to fix those superficial things. And unfortunately the dating world reinforces that.
