Anyone here have a GOOD Ex?

This is really hard. I feel so bad for those of you struggling with breakups and divorces that are full of nastiness.

In general, I am not angry. I'm not bitter. I'm just...sad. My ex is a great person - that's why I was with him. Do I have to get angry or hate him to move on? Is that part of the process?

Mine threw his cell phone at me, but if he found a spider or bug in the house he would put it on a paper towel and set it nicely outside. Does that count. lol

ShariB, God no! Don't demonize a good guy. Thank your lucky stars that you don't have to deal with the anger & hate. It does not have to be part of the process!

Your situation is not as common as most of us here on DS but your sadness is just as valid! Cherish your memories but begin that detachment process with the same generousity of spirit your post suggests.

I still get alone with my X, she also is a great and smart person. But there are times where she says something and I know she doesnt mean it...but it will shut me down. She's not used to the fact I'm EMO (emotional) now. She never, ever saw this side of me until our separation. And so sometimes she will say something and then be like "I didnt mean it to sound like that" she catches herself, but nonetheless she is a good person and wants to remain my best friend. Its just hard for me cause I still love her......so you dont have to hate or be anry with the X. If you feel it...well then thats another story. But if you dont...then dont.

I should hate my x after everything he's done, but I can't...

We are still gettign along fairly well. I have bailed him out of a few tight corners recently, so he returned the favour by giving me an advance on $$ he owes me in Jan.

I will never get over the pain he has caused, but the guy I fell in love with is in there somewhere. It kills me that he's changed so much...

i don't think you have to hate them, but you have to put your feelings for them to rest and move on w/your life.
