No I do not intend to marry again, however I do hold out hope for sharing the rest of a lifetime with someone that I "get" and "gets" me.
I found the article interesting in the "15Year" aspect, a counselor that i visited with maintained that most marriages fail on a 7 year cycle, make the 1st 7, be prepared for difficulties in 14, make the 14 watch out for 21, after 21 all bets are off. Funny, ironic or pathetic, the ex had the paperwork drawn up the day before our 14th anniversary, and yea, we celebrated, she loved the gifts, then 18 days later filed the paperwork. However, we remained legally married until March of this year, so in the legal since we made 17 years, and via our son we are still connected, so I guess if the glass is half full, til death we part is still intact, unless one of us remarries. blah blah blah
Bravo Dren! No way am I anywhere near that point, but a few years from now, God I sure hope so! Beautifully put, thank you!
when a couple merely lives together, a surviving partner could be left out on a limb after many years of loyalty.
He wanted a friend with benifit. This is not something he said when we got married, but soon after, he was regretful that he will have to SHARE.
Nope I am not getting married again, lost a lot and betryal was too big, can't go through all emotional, financial losses all over again.
My feeling (and belief) is that i will only be able to marry after my stbx chooses to re marry. I promised i would would be with her until we are parted by death. if she chooses out because (wrightly or wrongly, justified or not) that doesnt give me a get out as far as i see it now.
I have no idea how i look someone else in the eye and say those same words i said to her though, no idea at all how anyone does it a second time.
Yes, of course I would marry a 2nd time. I have met ppl who are on their 2nd marriages and have lasted longer than their first!
But I am in a totally different category as I have no children, and I'm over 40. I think my odds are quite different as there will be no blended family, and chances are high, that his will be on their own. So, I would say I have a good chance on staying in a happy 2nd marriage. :) (if I meet the right man, that is)
Just because my first marriage was horrible and failed dosnt mean a second will be horrible and fail. I can't hold all of my ex-husbands actions against my new partner in crime. He isnt him.
