Hi,
My visual impairment is severe enough that I cannot drive nor can I recognize faces. I'm getting divorced and have moved to a new place and have found myself very socially isolated. My disability makes it difficult for me to form new relationships.
I was wondering if anyone who has been or is in a similar position has any suggestions or advice on this issue.
I've joined a couple of dating sites but there are few women who seem interested and of course I have fear of rejection due to my disability if/when someone should contact me and logistics have to be set up for dating, etc.
What do you do to meet folks in your area? How do you explain your disability so as not to "scare people off"?
Its very difficult being alone.

Ive got to admit Im never upfront bout my sight. Im fortunate in that I have a fair bit of sight and often people dont realise I have any kind of disability which can be annoying at time when i really am struggling people think Im making it up etc Ive had bad experiences over the years as Ive grown up with people knowing bout my site from the start and so Ive decided as Ive got older I just dont tell people untill I feel the time is right and can trust them and judge how they may react etc. I prefer people to know me as me not me cos of my sight and often find that if I get to know poeple first and visa versa when I do tell someone bout my sight I can often explain it better and they dont feel akward or uncomfortable asking me questins about it and then more often than not they forget bout it again which is how I prefer it instead of people trying to "take care of me". I guess it really does depend on the individual.
