Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.

I use Benadryl, or other OTC sleep aides , they seem to work better for me
I'm afraid I AM on Seroquel (nothing else seems to work), but I also take 1 mg of Alprazolam.
Just 3 nights ago, I thought 'Maybe I don't need the Alprazolam' and so I skipped it.
I woke up feeling wide awake about four hours after falling asleep.
I did get back to sleep very quickly, but woke up again after a couple more hours and that time I DIDN'T fall back asleep.
Not until about 3 hours later when I gave up and took the Alprazolam.
At one time, I begged off the Seroquel because it was either that or have the wall removed to get in and out of the house.
I found that Thorazine worked great for me!!!!
Unfortunately, after about 6 or 8 months, I developed TD and the Pdoc whipped me right off of it and said I could never take it again.
I mentioned that to his psychiatric nurse once when she was the one seeing me and she blithely said, 'Oh, I can give you something else to keep that from happening!!'
So I guess it's an option even if it does give you TD. But I like my Pdoc's more cautious attitude a lot better.
Good luck finding a new sleep med, if that's what you're looking for!!!!

My BF is bipolar and he takes trazodone and that seems to work for him.
