Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
2012 will never happen so don't worry.
I made a few observations. First, when I first joined DS, I posted minimally. I was so scared and felt I did not have much to say. I was looking to others for wisdom.
Second, I can't believe how I have changed over the past few years. When I first joined, I just started medications, and now I feel like I am a BP veteran. I have had several bad depressions and manic episodes, but grew out of them.
Third, I have started to face some of my others demons that I was in denial about, but have been forced to face.
In essence, I would not say anything different if I had the opportunity. The posts reflected where I was at that particular point in time. The great thing with time is that it gives you the opportunity to reflect and grow.

If we were not to discuss the past then those posts ought to be destroyed Simon?
Hope not...
I for one like to look back and then take 3 steps forward.
Excuse me Simon for upsetting you.
"For all my life I have been able to humbly accept many of the things that come to me problem wise, Ive accepted that Ive had major depression, borderline personality, dealt with SI and it made sense to me. But somehow I cant get a grip of me being Bipolar, although multiple professionals have diagnosed me with it.
Im not comfortable with it. I cant identify with it and I dont understand what to do.

Nowadays I would say I identify with bipolar 2 more than any of my past diagnosises. And actually the one that was the hardest for me to face was being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. But, now that the official dx is that I only have borderline tendencies when I am unstable, it makes much more sense to me. I have to wonder though, why did I have to go through that confusion and mental anguish if it wasnt my real dx?
Hm.
What my hallucinations have amounted to were due to PTSD.
Forgive me, to those in the medical field...but, I don't envy you.
I do agree though, that I have BP1 & PTSD sure I behaved psychotically at the time. It was my prerogative.
...and thank you DS for the spelling lesson :)
