I don't have any friends where I live. Literally, not 1. I don't even know HOW to make new friends. I tried meetup.com, but there's nothing in my area of any interest to me. So, I went to a dating site....not that I necessarily want to date, but it's in my profile that I'm just there for friends. (I know that doesn't matter)
I actually get to talking to what seems like a really nice guy. I'm skeptic though, and I take my time. I haven't ever even met anyone from this site and I don't give out my # freely. But I did give this guy my #. He would text me, very sweet. Still skeptic. Then yesterday, he starts getting very pushy about meeting me. I said "NO", and decided that I wasn't going to bother talking to him again b/c he obviously doesn't respect how I feel.
So I wake up this morning to a couple of texts...
1. "Do you remember who I am or did your bipolar make you forget? lol"
(yeah, I told him I have BP)
2. "I thought it was funny that you would think I would wait for you to be ready to meet me when I have a lot of women I'm involved with. You're not stable enough for me."
3. "And you're not attractive enough for me either. You're fat. lol"
I'm not taking any of this stuff to heart really. Just saying that there are so many fake and creepy people in this world.
How do I meet people? Obviously a dating site is not the answer.

I've been married a long, long time, and met my husband back in college. But if I was suddenly looking to date, I would go to my church to meet people for friendships first. Then if someone clicked, I might think about getting to know the person a bit better.
I guess we have to just be careful in this internet world. So many crazies these days, and I am not referring to people with bipolar disorder or other mental illnesses.
I checked out meetup.com again, and there's still nothing around.... checked out my town's "recreation and activity calendar" which has 4 things coming up (all kids sports), I searched my neighboring towns (still nothing). There are craft classes in the summer, but they're all stuff that I'm not interested in. I attempted to volunteer at a hospital, treating cancer patients (b/c I'm a licensed Radiation Therapist) but apparently it's against the law if I'm not employed. I don't do church.
The more I try, the more disappointing it is. For now, at least, I give up.
