Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
One thing I have learned (from reading about online dating here) is that I can always pick up a replacement fuckwad with just a few clicks of the mouse.. awesome! What a bunch of jerks :(
I'd suggest volunteering or signing up for classes, anything you may have interest in learning... that way you stand the chance of meeting someone with similar interests/hobbies.
Although... blind leading the blind here!
your guy had his ego bruised by you shutting him down, so he lashed out at you. glad you dodged that bullet, could you imagine a relationship with an asshole like that?
i agree with eph about getting out in the community. you can meet someone from the get go face to face and things seem to work out better that way..
there is a strange feeling from meeting people online. you email, then text/talk, then meet, so instead of the visual attraction turning to a mental one, it is a mental attraction that hopefully also is a visual one. there is something weird about that, i never get used to it.
so again. i use the online dating sites to hear how pretty i am and talk to guys here and there and move along, with no serious intention of meeting any of them..
i did do a marathon dating session 3 in one weekend and they were all strange, it was interesting, but i would never do it again.. the first date, the guy told me about his horrid abuse from his stepdad within the first 15 minutes. the next date, over breakfast the guy picked my brain the whole time on how to open a business and negotiate lease terms. the next date, the guy was 10 yrs older than his pic. split a meal with me and took 2 calls from his teenage daughter for her lobster order. woah!!!
good luck out there, the right one will come along and it sounds like you are being very smart about choices. all good stuff.
sorry you got talked to so rudely, that sucks, the guy is a dick.
Unless you feel you are ready to start a relationship, do not tell anyone you have BP right away... I usually wait until strong feelings begin....face to face, with no distractions, and you trust that he won't turn asshole on you right away like that guy did...
BTW, be glad you never met that other guy, he just sounds like an asshole!!!
People like that man aren't worth your time anyways. He was probably a manipulator.
Boy!!! Did YOU ever make the right call in not meeting this guy!!!!
Those texts!!!!! LOL!!!!! What an Ultra-Maroon!!!!
You seem very tuned into your gut reactions and you've got the wisdom to follow them!!!!
Good for you!!!!! Your instincts will serve you well!!!!
I accepted a Friend Request from someone on DS.
The purpose of our relationship was to trade jokes and he had a million really good ones.
He wanted my Email address so that he could send funny attachments.
Actually, I hand out my Email address rather freely if I like someone and they seem 'safe'.
But I balked at giving it out to him. He sent so MANY messages.
He kept badgering me and after a few weeks, I finally caved.
Nothing terrible happened, but it DID turn out to be a mistake and I told him not to contact me anymore.
For a couple days, he kept sending things to me. I didn't even open them. Just deleted them. He finally gave up, thank God.
I should have followed my instincts.
As to meeting potential friends, I started looking around online I found a group that said it was for meeting people and was NOT a dating site. Friend-spot.com .
So I said I wanted to meet both men and women, of any age, who lived within 10 miles of me.
It found 2 supposedly suitable possibilities.
Both were females. One was shown in a slightly flirtatious pose.
The other one showed a side view of how she looks from the waist up to the neck.
One lived about 2 hours away from me.
So much for THAT site!!!!
Still, I'd poke around online to see if I came across something acceptable.
Do you like taking classes of any sort?
Are you willing to check out a Unitarian Church? They're very progressive, usually into intellectual pursuits, and don't care WHAT you believe in when it comes to God(s) or if you're an atheist and don't believe in any God(s.) They practice tolerance.
Any NAMI or Bipolar support groups nearby?
Can you check with your local city hall and/or your library? They often have information on neighborhood activities.
I just looked up my city hall website. Boy, is IT pitiful!!! Hardly any information at all and none of it worth anything.
The best it had was a 'Social Networks' - coming soon.
But we only have a population of about 6,000.
Plug in the name of your local park district. I just checked my larger, neighboring suburb and there's loads of programs for all kinds of things!!! Aquatics, horseback-riding, bus tours, meditation classes, art classes, etc. Check yours and see if you find something you like.
Good luck!!! I hope you find a way to meet agreeable people and even find some you really click with!!! (((((Hugs)))))

What do you like to do? Some of my best RL friends are ones I've met through shared interests -- church, yoga class, the dog park, volunteering.
For me, friendships develop more naturally when I'm not focused on making friends but something else. I tend to weird myself out when the attention is all on making friends.
Good luck to you. Glad you handled your online friend.
Of course, there have also been a lot of great suggestions by other people on here that you should try as well
