I'm so sorry you're having to go through this with your son. It must be hard for him too. How old is he if you don't mind me asking?

He's 6...and got caught destroying this property with an 11 year old. I'll own up to what my son did, but they better not try to make me pay for it all. I am so fed up with dealing with my son that I just don't know what to do. He's got a deadbeat Dad, so it's ALL me.

I made an appt. with a tdoc...the earliest I could get in is Dec. The only way for me to get him a pdoc is if the tdoc refers me. I have to go through this whole process. They don't care that I'm having problems NOW. I called specifically for medication management. But chances are that I won't even get in with a pdoc until around February.

l looked after a little boy for a day who had troubles he just couldn't stop it was the most exhausting day of my life. He'd hit his older sister write on things he shouldn't it's not just the defiance its the trouble they seek out to do. The only time l saw him calm and quiet was when he ws wtching a fav tv show of his or when l spoke to him about things he enjoyed the rest of the time was like a whirlwind.

I hate the thought that you are at emotional love/hate breaking point but l do understand because he needs therapy to help him find a different way of coping with his thoughts and urges after all deep down he doesn't delight in seeing you hurt or cry its the illness that has no regard for anything or anyone. Just as a depressed person can't laugh or rise from their bed he can't stop.

l know he needs help and strong firm action even if its meds which it may well be. You have to keep on top of a diary and reports of his actions so that if/when he acts up and you get called to respond for his actions you have proof of what you go through daily. You are going to have to hold on until he gets the help you know this won't happen tomorrow so try not to hate your boy hate the bp inside.

He sooooo needs help with his rages he really does and l bet he can't remember half of what he says or does which is a classic sign, l think he needs meds to calm the thoughts his world must be hellish to him right now too. Hold on Hanna maybe distract him with christmas presents....!!

hana i'm sorry your going through this, its gotta be tough. i wish i had more advice for you, just hang in there okay? you guys will get into a doctor and when you do i hope things start looking up. until then do everything you can to relax because if your a mess he will be too. also, try not beat yourself up over becoming a parent. god brought your boy to you because nobody else could have been a better mother for him, just keep that in mind.

Take him to visit a pdoc not MD for an evaluration & to obtain a diognose.
The pdoc may place him on medication.

Sorta sorry but the saying goes you breck it you pay for it.
Example: a person hits my car and bend the fram. ya the person will be held accountable for destory my property and haveing not just a paint job done but also pay to have the fram straighten if it can be straighen. if not the person will buy me a car and cover rental car - even if it was thier child who actually wreak my car.
same applys to other types of property.
am glad that property owners of thier house knew that it was your son whom vandelized thier property.
I have 3 cars. the 1978 only has 28 miles on it. ya, I would sue the parents of child who vandalize my property. Apparently the Goverment, agentcys, departments, atty's & courts also think that parents are accountable for thier children. will that's my 2 cents.

Hugs and love during this difficult time Hanna. Sorry for what you and your son are going through. My three year old is like a whirlwind also, but seems to have a good nature so far. He started his school and therapy this morn for his autism. We all have difficulties to face honey. Your plight is further complicated because you yourself are unmedicated right now. That alone is enough to drive ya crazy. Let alone having a child who tries your patience at every turn. I agree with Spacy honey in that you wouldn't have that precious boy if God hadn't wanted you to. He may not be old enough to know the consequences to his actions. What mood disorder has he been dx'd with? If you have any doubts as to that boys preciousness, tonight, when he is sleeping, go and look at his angelic face. You will make it through this honey. Have faith. Lean on God if you are of a mind to. It does help IMO. Love ya girl!!

I know what it's like not to stand your own child. Mine is 20 and things are better now than they were when he was little. Although I stil have my days of not being able to stand him.

We had to put him on meds when he was 11. He tried to choke another child and he (son) ended up in the ER and was put in the psych ward. Thank goodness no charges were filed. It was going to be months before we could get in to see a pdoc as well (we had the appointment all set up) but in the hospital he was able to see the pdoc every day. At this point I was afraid of him which is one reason they kept him in the hospital. Just know you are not alone. You are not a horrible parent you are a good mother and you care. ((((HUGS))))

Hanna, why is it that you can not get him a pdoc appointment unless you go through a tdoc? As everyone knows and also you, that my daughter was diagnosed with major depressive disorder a few months ago and she is only 6.

Once I took her to the hospital they admitted her into a behavioral facility and started her on medication. And while she was in there appointments were set up with the pdoc and tdoc for when she got out. Now we have a regular tdoc and pdoc and we do not have to go through a whole bunch of red tape.

She is on 0.25 mg of Risperdal and its worked wonders for her. I suggest putting him on meds other then the ones that put him to sleep earlier.I hope everything goes well for you. I am here if you need me.

Philosophy. I don't just focus on a box that shows DS web site. Right now I have 5 different sites on in different windows - boxes.

Mg, current meds may need adjustment or a different ( new) med prescribed.

According to you: if my son had of damaged someone property as in bracking out a window pane. You believe that courts will only have me to have half the window pane fixed,lol
Sorry you fell out of bed this morning.

Please lets wait and see what the courts decide, if they chose in favour of the child not to pay because of diminished responsibility l doubt they would expect the owner to stump up for damage that wasn't his fault, either paying would seem unfair...so lets wait and see.

I dont think she is saying wheither she thinks she should have to pay for it or not, she's just saying she doesnt have the money. Anyway, the thread isnt about that overall, its about her reaching out and asking for advice on her son. Let's not target one of our own and bash them on their own thread. Be nice how bout it.

hannah, i am sorry you are going thru this right now. my sis and bro in law are going thru some similar things but he is near 17 and the actions are getting more detrimental. maybe you could take him to the regular hospital during one of his rages and speed things along a bit. i also don't understand why you have to wait so long. my best wishes for you and your son.

Hanna, am not sure but if your (son ) you are held accountable for replacement cost of a window. you have the legal right (option) to sue the 2nd party to property damage that you were fined to recoup 1/2 of window replacement cost.
I personally would have my atty to check to see if the home owners will be or have been pd by thier insurance company for the damage - replacement.
Again am not sure but courts won't allow someone to get doubled pd for - in this case a window.
You might only be fined & court cost. (?)
