I am starting one in my Baptist church. But they think it is about depression, and I am obviously fine. LOL

Catholic church told me no too, and they have lots of 12 step meetings... lots of churchs are just humans - people don't want to come open the church and stay...

I started my meeting at 1pm on Fridays at the library...

LOL, its just 2012, and the churches are feeding their own, not actually reaching out towards community, I wrote, drove to and talked and called 40 churches... no luck

I think you're just going to have to call around to find a room. It may help if you know someone at the facility.

Are you starting a bipolar support group through an organization Hannahana, or are you doing it on your own?

If you can go through am established organization, you might find a room more easily. You also might attract more people.

I'm trying to become an affiliated member of the DBSA (Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance), a nation wide support organization for depression and bipolar disorder. I gave this info to the secretary, and it is the church I am a member of. The secretary gave the ok, when she talked to her "higher up", she said it was not available. She an I spent a lengthy amount of time on the phone finding a specific time and day that I COULD hold a meeting, but it seems to be moot at this point.

I don't know which denominations feel that we are "possessed by demons", so I figured I'd ask. I found an episcopal church nearby, so I'll try that tomorrow. I hope I can find something soon b/c I have quite a few people waiting for me to start the group.

It took me months and lots of churches, YMCA and meeting rooms - I finally got the library and the BEST TIME the library had aviable.

DBSA will support you, and you need to not take NO personally, and bitching people are afraid of demons is just defeating and negative.

What about schools? They have rooms that are empty at night.

Also, once you have the room - its yours forever! I have four members now, but I had weeks no one showed!

I'd join a 'Satanists For Jesus' sect if I was told I had demons.
I'd have to invent it first though...but being 'possessed' I can't afford any room for my imagination.But the women would be hot.

There must be a Method(ism) to this madness somewhere.
