English is really barren when it comes to describing love. We lump all those different words under one term, then make it into a verb. If that verb was an action, then I would be all for it. But a verb meaning soft warm, feelings, or erotic desire, compared to the love a mother has for her child, or the love we have for friends makes the whole concept a muddy mess.
I feel the love of God each day no matter what I do. I am blessed to have great love for my children, and a husband, who although non-verbal, loves me. I also love this world, and the many beautiful things God has created.
So true love? Always. Love for God? Always. Love for my family and friends? Always. Love for a man? Well, most of the time, except when he makes me mad. Pretty conditional, LOL (eros) - but I do love him unconditionally all the time, regardless of his actions. That is true love.
I have to think that we are often looking for love in all the wrong places. (to quote that old country tune). Love is about relationship and what we have to give. It is not confined to an intimate encounter which thrills the soul. Really, all love should thrill the soul, no matter who the recipient is. including ourselves.
The other day we went to his grandmas house for a visit...and she knew me from before when I was romantic with him. She said she had tried to get him to dress all nice and handsome for me ( before we got together that day)..he blushed when she said that. I didn't know how to act...just smiled and went along with the whole conversation. I am afraid to get too close to him...I may get hurt or he may reject my body. I have been careful to always look really nice when I see him and wear my most attractive clothes...but I am afraid to get rejected for many reasons. I fell in love with him out there on his grandmas farm and with the sparkle in his eyes.
When I see the sparkle of his eyes I remember the love...even just for a moment.
I feel love from my three kids and am still in love with my husband of 24 years. They have loved me through some very tough times.
I love my dogs and cats, all eight if them!
I also am part of a very loving church where I can get and give lots of hugs and love.
I want to stay positive and survive. Love is the best way for me to do that.
I liked your sermon. No need to apologize. :)
My husband tolerates me, yet says he loves me .... words mean shit, actions are reality.
I miss romantic love ...
Any romantic "love" that coulda/ shoulda/ woulda been there between the 2 different men I spent a total of 10 years of my life wasting, I think it was more out of obligation/guilt than anything. My kids' father, our 6 year relationship ended, and he stuck around for another year before he jumped ship. Probably my fault that my kids don't "have a father". The other guy, spent 4 years with him, I think he stayed with me b/c he was determined to prove that my illness didn't bother him....but he actually felt obligated and didn't want to look like a douchebag for leaving a sick woman.
Love? Perhaps I'm just too jaded to see and accept if someone is trying to express it. Fear of rejection also plays a big part in me even attempting to find it.
I am blessed and very thankful that I am
