Started on new meds and I know it can take weeks for it to start working but when should I feel a little better? It is getting harder and harder to motivate myself to stay out of bed. I will get on the computer for a while and work on some things and then back to bed I go. Sometimes because I have no desire to do anything else. Not even watch tv.

I will talk to my therapist this thursday, and I hope that is productive. I'm feeling really bad about myself lately. The littlest thing will set me off thinking of what a failure I am, pathetic, blah blah. Nothing seems to encourage me except the hope that this time the meds will help me and I can function again.

What medication? Anti psychotics work in a couple of days for me but Lamictal took 3 months..... depends entirely on which med... I'm sorry you are feeling so bad...........

Lexapro 20mg and Abilify 10mg (Unless he really did change it to 2 mg) He wrote my script for 2mg and I'm waiting to hear from pdoc if he misunderstood the dose I was on or if he lowered it and didn't tell me. Ativan as needed..1mg

He took out the mood stabilizer, not sure why, except when I get better I will try to get pregnant and they are not good for that. He seemed to think I had more anxiety problems than mood swings, well yeah at the moment I was anxious as hell cause I hadn't been out of the house in a while.

Just kidding for me usually no longer than a couple weeks on most meds. I often dont notice if they are working unless I miss a dose

I can't say about the lexapro.. I am one of those who just can not take anti depressants.... the Abilify though you should feel in a day or so and the Ativan should work in minutes to smooth things out....

The abilify worked for me within a week or two. I've never been on lexapro.

I love my ativan too. I don't take it often but it works within a half hour or so.

I was on lexapro but was just taken off of it, due to rapid cycling.

I found it started to work within a few weeks, but you do not get the full effect for about 4-6 weeks.

I noticed you are not on a mood stabilizer, which is a horrible idea, because you can start to rapid cycle (have 4 or more mood episodes per year).

You should at least be on a mood stabizer before you are put on ADs or any other psychiatric meds.

Boy sounds like my day, I cannot get motivated either. My meds make me feel good yet I cannot get myself out of bed. My pdoc and I discussed this exact same thing this morning. He suggested a schedual, something simple to start out with. Like I told him for me keeping a schedual is one of the worst things I cannot do, I have tried and failed, like he said try harder and that is the truth I always give myself excuses in the back of my head now I have to move myself. Maybe this will work for you too....

I agree it depends entirely on which meds you're talking about. Some meds I have tried never did make me feel better. Some had an effect the first dose, some I didn't even feel for weeks. I know it is hell waiting to feel better. Hugs

I with heretic...some of my meds were with in a day or so..some took about a week or 2. Some of the meds i've been on made me sluggish which made it hard to function..and would of rather stayed in bed too. Yet my daughter keeps me on a schedule...without her I think i would have more motivation issues being BP.
