Bipolar Disorder Support Group
Bipolar disorder is not just a single disorder, but a category of mood disorders marked by periods of abnormally high energy and euphoria, often accompanied by bouts of clinical depression. This is the place to talk about your experience with bipolar disorder, learn from others' experiences, and find support.
Ive been on them too and have had to stop exercising for a month. Its a bitch because i really need to lose weight but its the sensible option
I like exercise, it calm me...
2. remember it's not 'all or nothing'..even if cough up a lung & cannot go to exercise class..no need to throw in towel, quit quest for better health
3. If so concerned (as you obviously are, from posts) about health & fitness..I would quit sugar for a while..not sodas or anything like that & not overdo carbs. Helps!
4. you could lift light weights at home for another fitness approach?
5. maybe get help for psychological side of your health problems (which I dare say are more daunting than physical aspects)
s'all x Good luck.
& many people do think either/or..all or nothing..run a marathon or death by donuts
better just gradual little healthy choices.
bit of cardio and ab exercises thrown in but not much. this class is basically strength training. It's called total body makeover.
I've done both. I wouldn't find either very calming, but that's just me.
Lou, I knew you weren't criticizing me, if you were talking to me, that is.
I just kinda got off topic. Just saying, can't blame being sick for a few days, or meds, or whatever on your weight gain/issues, if you're eating pizza and drinking cokes for dinner. Or if you're making unhealthy choices by eating only one or two meals a day. The psychological component you recommended is a good idea. You have to own why you're overweight, or you will get no where, IMHO.
I feel the same way BP, I have recently quit smoking and back on Lithium again. I have gained 10 pounds since starting Lithium back up. I have been working out like a mad man everyday for the last week, it hurts but I am determined to lose the weight and buff up at the same time.
