To calm racing thoughts? Or at least give them some direction to go? My brain is constantly in overdrive and if left to it's own devices, always gets stuck in obsessive thoughts about things that make me feel terrible. I've started to mentally compose haikus to give my overactive mind something to do with itself. That and almost constant music. I cant just be present and relaxed ever. Is this something you struggle with all the time or only during a mood episode?

Apparently my brother didn't know my nephews were coming and he was livid. I came home to a...

Mojo, if I could choose one talent to be magically gifted with, it would be the ability to play guitar. I love music so so much. A good voice to go along with the guitar skills would be nice too, wish granting fairy...wherever you are.
What a tough one slowing down the racing thoughts....
Here's what's helped me:
1. DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) research it a bit and see if there is a class anywhere near you. If not there are a bunch of workbooks on the subject to help teach techniques like, mindfullness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation etc.
2. Some kind of meditation to get out of the tape loop playing in the head.....coloring with colored pencils can also achieve the same results.
3. Something to slow your body down, I take five mile walks up steep hills and go to the gym it helps me find a middle ground I can live in....
Good luck to you the racing thoughts can really be the pits :(
