Went camping....

Hi everyone! I hope you are all well! I went camping at the river last week/weekend and had a really good time! Left out last Thursday and got back Saturday. We had a bad storm blowing in on Saturday with possible tornadoes so I left before it hit. Didn't want to be stuck down at the river bottom when it floods lol. We caught 4 big catfish! I haven't been down to the river in years! The only thing that sucked was my friend kept messing with me when I was trying to sleep. I told him when my meds kick in I'm gone and done for the night. He was drunk and just kept waking me up. It was so annoying. Didn't sleep very good for a couple of days because of that. He finally left me alone. Someone always has to ruin it. Other than that it was fun. This weekend I'm supposed to go camping with some other friends at a different location. We're going to be scouting out spots for a annual gathering we have every year here. So that will be fun. After that, I think I'll take a break for a while from the woods. Bugs are getting bad already, snakes are out, and tornado season is upon us. We won't be having that annual gathering until sometime in June so we have plenty of time to scout out spots. Yesterday I had 3 loads of laundry to do and then went to town to get a little groceries. Today I'm just going to relax and chill around the house. Might go for a walk at the park if it doesn't rain. glad you had fun camping least you didnt get hit with bad weather i think i get to see my mom out of state going to fly out to minnesota

Haven't been camping in years. Like, since I was a teenager. And I remember not liking it very much at that point. I was usually grumpy and just wanted to go home lol. I Loved it when I was a kid. Remember running through forests and wildflowers when I was about 5, and playing hide and seek with my siblings. Id like to try it again sometime. During the summer when it isn't freezing.

Thanks malibumark! It was fun! jessekay: yep got out of there just in time before the storm hit! That's cool you get to go on a trip to see your mom! I have lived all over but always come back home to Texas because this is where my family and friends are. I don't know what I would do if my mom was far away! She's my best friend! JudicatorPrime: Yeah it seems to me when I was younger I enjoyed camping more than I do now that I'm older. Now I can only handle a few days in the woods and then I'm ready to go back home lol. I can guarantee you I won't be in the woods much once summer hits! Summer time in Texas is brutally hot and humid! I take advantage of the nice Spring weather while I can! That really takes me back.... It's been years since I've been camping and it does sound like fun ....

I could only handle it for a few days as well....haha.... I like comfort....xo

I miss camping so much! As a kid we had annual "family reunion" type things with my father's side of the family. We'd stock up on lots of food and kept it in coolers, our "toilet" was a chair with a hole. We went rough! But it was always such a great time. After my grandpa passed (I was 11, it's been a loooooong time) it never felt right and we all just kinda stopped doing it. We've all drifted since then. I've really lost the family connections I used to have, on both sides at that. I'm close with my siblings and my mom and stepdad, my actual dad....well that's a whole other story.

Anyway, I'm glad you had fun camping! 4 catfish!! Do you keep and eat or just catch and release? And that drunk friend? Ugh! Is he that level of friend though where even though he did that you still care for him, like it doesn't affect the friendship bond?

Thanks everyone! mcosta314: We keep what we catch if it's big enough to eat. And yes I do still care about my friend even though he can be annoying sometimes. I know he was just wasted. He apologized to me and I told him not to mess with me anymore when I'm sleeping. He said ok I won't. I told him unless ya'll catch a 30 to 40 pound catfish then don't wake me up! Lol! I can understand family not getting together to do stuff like that anymore. When my grandpa died, my family kind of just went their separate ways. They only come together now when there is a funeral which is sad. My friends are like family to me though and we have a good time. We also rough it down at the river lol
