today at a gathering w my extended fam, I caused an argument that led to people screaming at each other. The really odd part was that everyone stood by my side like I was a tiny weakling that needs care for, like Im literally mentally disabled and cant stand up for myself. Yes im bipolar and had a very hard time resocializing, but it was exactly this stigma and treatment that I was afraid of.
I feel like shit, makes me never want to tell anyone about my illness ever again. I know I cant go and shut myself off, but i really really want to shut down

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

When people are 'screaming at each other' continuing to scream won't solve or calm anything... To calm a volatile situation it often takes a quiet voice and calm demeanor ...
I hope you'll feel better soon..x
Didnt like it at all, so uncomforting and i dont know
I am sorry to hear that. You want to be treated just like everyone else. When everyone treats me like everyone else, I get insulted, but only once in a while.
I am very good at causing unintentional arguments in my family. It has become my thing apparently.
Let them know you're a survivor not a victim and maybe even discuss how harmful the stigma can be.. Let them know you want to stop the stigma..
Big hug for you sweetie..xo
Bet that was an awkward family get-together. Did you say anything to your family members who were victimizing you? Perhaps they didn't even know that's how you were interpreting their actions?
I hope you and your family can work this out. :)
I think I should break it down to the fam very slowly, and I also will have to be strong and give it time for them to understand/realize and feel comfortable to talk to about it with me. Wait for the right time to break the ice instead of forcing it.
Cheers!
