Princess... sweetie I'm sorry you feel that way.... I am a stay at home mom and I feel we have the most important jobs out there...

If we got paid for everything we do...we would be millionaires.... just think.... housekeeper,gardener, daycare, chauffeur, nurse, teacher, dry cleaner, chef,...ect the list goes on and on....

Honey don't sell yourself short you are worth a million bucks... and your kids have more security knowing you are always there if they need you.... cheer up honey... you are great! luvs and hugs

l tried to be her indoors and went to college after a year, l couldn't do it at your age so l applaud you and remember life can change at any moment so don't try the crystal ball thing it won't work and you just never know if you want change then it will happen (((hug)))

I am sorry you're feeling so depressed and unappreciated. As Arielle said, we are here for you. I will say one thing, I never had kids, only dogs, and I complain about having to go to a job everyday, that I have too much to do while I am there, etc,etc. But when I look at what you stay at home Moms do, well I could not even begin to imagine how you do it. Taking care of the kids, the house, and everything else that comes along. I have so much respect for you that you can do all of that. I could not. I think you are all amazing. Hi there! I too am a 'housewife' & I can relate to your feelings. We live in a society that values one thing above all else despite lip service & romantic claims. That thing is money earned & generated. A pop star with little talent will earn more than the most gifted neurosurgeon. Those people working in daycares with our society's alleged 'most precious assets' will earn a pitiful income depite a college degree. We 'stay-at-home' moms are often perceived as dumb, lazy & free-loaders. I've even had some feminists refer to us as 'sell-outs'! My 2 kids are now in college & I've returned to university to complete my degree (I'm in my final year). My husband is critical & resentful despite all the work I do for his business. He is also a money bully & paternalistic. The problem is NOT that WE are housewives; the problem is a prevailing societal attitude. My kids are able to excell in a large part due to the countless hours I spent over the years smoothing the path for them & helping them with their studies. My husbands success is something that I busted my @$$ for. I know my worth despite what anyone else thinks & you must give yourself the appreciation that others will not. It must come from the inside.

Hey princess, does your hubby want you to lose weight or do you want to do it too??? I'm starting to eat healthier and I belong to a weight loss forum (outside of ds). It is very helpful when I need motivation.... I'm trying to lose the weight I've gained since being in the hospital and having my antipsychotic dose increased

The hubby complains that it's my weight that made me loose my sex drive and not the meds and he wishes I cared more about myself to want to get back in shape and loose weight but yet he claims if I was in shape and still didn't loose any weight that he would still love me the same. He always promotes more housework as a way of loosing weight but I don't believe him and think he's lying just so I will do more around the house.

He doesn't sound like the most understanding or supportive person. I bet that your weight is NOT the 'real' problem. The vast majority of humans in North America are over-weight to varying degrees. After having children, some women's bodies change significantly & medications CAN cause weight gain by either increasing apetite or slowing the metabolism OR BOTH! If this man's hurtful comments & apparent hidden agenda are affecting your self-esteem, you need to consider shifting your focus onto yourself & all the qualities you know you have as a person. You could be model-thin with a sparkling clean house, but some partners would find something else to criticize. This behaviour is likely more about him than about you & all your 'alleged' short-comings. He's probably dissatisfied with who HE is.
